I'm surprised, so many one star reviews here. I agree it's no Harvard, but I wouldn't go as far as calling the University Of North Texas, an oversized community college, Come on?! I can only speak in my experience attending UNT's College Of Business and the instructors I engaged with. All considered tuition here is more affordable than most, pair that with highly qualified instructors I saw in classrooms, Id say you GET the most bang for your buck and then some. I was lucky enough to enroll just as the University completed construction of a new COB building. A hugely upgraded facility from what I expected, lucky timing I suppose. Most importantly I truthfully enjoyed attending class, regardless of how hard we partied on Fry St. the previous night. NEVER imagined myself saying those words before attending this University. Short version, No one likes to pay for school, but tuition is relatively a "bargain" because the Dollar: IQ received ratio is excellent! My major was business; our building was brand new, and the professors I thought were brilliant. Bringing in CEO's of billion dollar business as our private guest speakers, sharing invaluable real-world insight found in no textbooks. Collectively the Universities CoB Professors and guest speakers elegantly bridge the gap many graduates might otherwize find difficult to cross, the transition from College to Career. Just my opinion... I enjoyed the University Of North Texas

There were quite a few things about UNT the upset me but there were also a lot of things that we were happy about. The price was atrocious and rose every year my husband and I attended. I ended up transfering to TWU but he graduated from the Engineering program at UNT in 2013. Another huge downfall for us was that they make it VERY hard to be a non traditional student. There are not enough class times and even told us that they expect their students to focus on school, not work.... well we had a family so we needed to do both and were forced to take minimum wage jobs because those were the only ones that would work around our school. When he went to another school for his masters he was able to work in his field full time and go to school full time and maintain a 4.0.... so I think UNT can seriously do better there. We do have many fond memories of our time at UNT, though.

The epitome of the fall of "higher learning institutions" in the modern day. I am a proud, 2-time dropout of this God-forsaken, trash campus and it is truly a trash "institution", if you can even call it that. Very much an 'over-sized community college' but WAY worse because at least community colleges are affordable and DON'T waste your valuable, limited time on this green Earth. Parking is next to nonexistent, unless you're rich. Their "Acceptance Rate" is now at 80%. When I went, both times, it was just barely above 70%. Says a lot. It's been like this and it's only gotten worse. They definitely do extort you for all that you're worth, before you struggle your whole life under their mountain of debt, of course. Could not EVER park without getting fined THREE times. Me and my Mom had to fight with them CONSTANTLY on issues that were clearly their own doing, such as the rampant acceptance + their own parking spots having faded out, thus resulting in me and other students parking "incorrectly" at times. You can BARELY see the markings, it's insane how they refused to re-paint their stuff for YEARS!! I think only NOW they finally "fixed" it. Too late. And some parking staff were pretty rude, combative, back-talked me and refused to give any refunds or even see my point of view on the matter. I literally took pictures and it was clear as day the marks were faded as ALL get-out, come on give me a break. Also, we are not paying several thousands, and even tens of thousands, for basic textbooks and classes I already took, and EXCELLED at, back in high school—with just having to pay the standard, mandatory taxes my parents had to pay and contribute for me to be enrolled in. UNT absolutely squeezes every last cent out of you before the student loans kick in, that is for certain. Might be anywhere from $44,000-88,000 "total" in "tuition", but none of you factor in the insane, asinine and infuriating "fees", "fines" and "additional expenses" we're also forced to pay, whether you're a citizen or int student. I'm sorry, but most of us aren't billionaires, or even millionaires at that. Most of us also have jobs to be at, so I don't appreciate the Professors who force us to be in class on weekends or on days where our work schedules conflict. Do you even remember how school was like for you or are you just that privileged and rich to even fathom such a reality? Terrible roads they never fix, maaany of their buildings LEAK, have EXPOSED WIRING and are dirty, stink and rotten beyond all that is good and holy. Even more rude and overly aggressive and trashy staff, kicking me out of a meeting room at the Union during my lunch break. The door was unlocked, so I thought I could use it temporarily to get away from the crowds as I'm extremely socially anxious and generally hate crowds, and from sitting on the floors since the chairs are always completely taken because again: the rampant acceptance rates. But yes, sorry, I didn't know I'm not allowed to be in there, but why do you have be so angry, loud and demeaning towards me for that? It was a young Black woman, at that. Appalling behavior and should be re-trained and reprimanded, forthwith. 1 weird English Professor who yelled at students for no reason and never could answer any of our questions in a satisfactory way whatsoever, completely useless. I did love MOST of the other Students + Professors, however. Dr. Cheney is the BEST and deserves SO MUCH MORE! Anyways, 2 stars is HIGHLY generous here, but above all, I just simply thank the Lord every day I dropped out for the 2nd and final time. Never coming back, that is for sure. Goodbye and good riddance. It is 2025 and I am doing better than I ever have before without a degree and I could not be more at peace with myself. Learn a trade(s), go to community college or just teach yourself at this point. None of this is worth even a morsel of your time, money and effort these days. Sad, but true. Those who deny these truths are living in an alternate reality from the rest of us. Must be...

It's TERRIBLE. IT'S ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I carry nothing but HATE for this "school". I had to leave after my first year. I paid $172 for a parking pass, and hardly EVER got to park in front of my own dorm. All those freaking "cheer parents" with their little kids would take up THE STUDENT'S spaces in front of OUR dorms, instead of using the designated parking infront of the gym they were using for their cheer practice. Speaking of dorms, they wont allow you to have simple string lights or coffee makers plugged up in you room (in Clark Hall) because the building still has aluminum wiring. But they'll let you have a big flat screen TV, microwave, and mini fridge. 🙄 It made no sense to me. And you have to share one bathroom between 2 rooms. Depending on the number of people in each room, that could be 4 to 6 people to one shower. I had a couple of professors just give up on me, even though I tried. With all the things I was going through in life outside of class, I still tried, and attempted to explain my situation but they never listened. Looking at you "art professor"! On top of that, when you try to get to class, just avoid the fountains COMPLETELY. There is ALWAYS some OVERLY RELIGIOUS NUT yelling at the students, telling them that they're "going to hell" and "you're all sinners" and all that BS. They WANT to draw a crowd. They WANTED to turn the students against eachother. And they did. Also, the "community" is SO DIVIDED. If you're not a part of their "club" they'll just shun you completely. Some will even get huffy when you ask about joining. On top of that, I wasted 2 hours just trying to finish my registration, BUT THE STAFF IS SO FREAKING CLUELESS. They gave me the run around in one buulding. "Go to this floor", "oh sorry, they were wrong its the other floor", "oh? They told you to come here? Thats weird. Go back to the floor you were just on. They should help you." Back and forth, back and forth. Even during orientation, they gave out false information to make themselves look better. "We always have this and that going on at this building". But when I started attending, the people that worked they were incredibly confused when I asked about events. For instance, I was told at orientation that they always had therapy dog at the school. You just have to make an appointment to see them. I get to the building they were talking about, and the employees were dumbfounded when I asked about the therapy dog stuff. And dont even bother paying for a 7 day meal plan. The cafeterias are only open for 6. Only ONE (Kerr) is open EARLY MORNING on a sunday, and the food is disgusting and usually undercooked anyway. The only reason some of these people are giving 5 star ratings is because they didnt attend. They just visited. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES....

DO NOT go here if you are serious about your education! I just finished my first year here and it was the WORST choice I will probably make in my ENTIRE LIFE! I ended up with VERY FEW GOOD TEACHERS. In my second semester, I had two teachers that were absent for about a month's worth of classes, and no, they don't give you anything in return such as a refund if your teachers decide to do this. You just end up wasting time and money to fail those classes. One of my teachers just openly admitted to being fired from another college so expect those kinds of teachers when coming here.

I was told I was accepted into the computer science program after I had applied for the school and got my acceptance letter. HOWEVER, when I got to orientation, they told me that I was NOT accepted into the program and was instead in need of some other classes. This information would have been very useful to me when they sent me the letter saying I was "accepted into the program" so that I could have taken the math class I still needed while I was in high school. So at this point, I'm in their pre-engineering program. If you end up in this program, just quit as soon as possible. UNT doesn't care a single bit about their pre-engineering program at all. In fact, they care about it so little, that it isn't even called pre-engineering, they just throw you into HPS which is not engineering related in the SLIGHTEST! During First Flight Week, I ended up in the wrong place because the meeting for pre-engineering students DIDN'T HAVE A START TIME! I did ask them about this later and they did admit that they did indeed forget to put the start time for it in our booklets.

Oh yeah, and have fun trying study and get from class to class while EVERY stereotypical group tries to shove their controversial opinion in your face.

Also, remember that here, your car is NOT SAFE! Somebody wrote on all of the driver side windows of my car. I didn't know it happened until the weekend since I didn't use my car during the week as they make freshmen park about 15-25 minutes away from their dorms.

I've had countless more awful experiences here but I hope I have said enough to prevent you from going to this school at this point. Now I'm stuck in major debt and I have to work it all off before I can actually go to a REAL college! Take my advise and AVOID THIS SCHOOL AT ALL COSTS! Go somewhere else and get your money's worth from a...
