Pepitas Vegan Taqueria — Restaurant in Denton

First time visit, atmosphere under construction, however looking forward to see the finished restaurant. The service was super awesome. I just "walked in" not realizing orders are being taken "online only" until constructions finished. I ordered a Taco Salad (vegan chicken, guacamole, zucchini, onions, mushrooms) I believe this was the name. Anywho, I waited 15min and the order was brought out piping hot packed away in a carryout bag with everything needed to immediately "dive in" The kind lady even offered that I stay to eat if I wanted. I decided to beat traffic and head home. On ride home, I only smelled the fresh aroma of "tortillas" I didn't smell garlic, cumin or any other really good and tasty seasoning. When I arrived home, I quickly dumped everything onto the salad which was inside this really cool takeout container. At first sight, everything was colorful and the chicken shredds were just ok, and then after the first bite, all I could taste was "Salt" and then I couldn't finish the meal. $18 down the drain :( I was really tired and didn't want to cook anything which is why i took this chance and stopped into this location. Don't misunderstand me, salt is ok when used properly, but when it's not, it can ruin a very good meal. I believe my order would have been ok had it not been for the heavy use of salt. Maybe I'll visit again later this fall when I'm in the area and hopefully I can try something else on the menu because everything looked great and I'm sure very tasty, just...

Long time customer here and honestly I had a nightmare of an experience today. It seems there’s a new manager who has a large amount of prejudice in body. I have always enjoyed coming to this restaurant and today I was mocked, cheated, and disrespected on a level that can never be corrected. The individual first attempted to declined my Groupon voucher and after speaking for a few moments decided to accept it. His tone was very belittling and his demeanor displayed an individual fueled by anger and hatred. He mentioned the store manager Angel and said he doesn’t honor them but I have a relationship with Angel who is the polar opposite of this inappropriate man. Angel is loving, kind, and full of respect. As the man attempted to lie to my face, I felt my heart sink to the floor. I knew I could never shop or do business with this establishment again. To reinforce this decision, the poorly behaved man / manager gave me little to no food and this is not an exaggeration. The nachos were missing beans, the Birria protein portion was so small, and our Tres Leches size was so laughable that I took a moment to enjoy it to subside the amount of pain, prejudice, and disrespect I felt at that moment. While I have loved this place to my heart, I know it is now time to part ways. I pray for the man who took my order today that he finds peace in his heart from whatever evil is stalking his life. As a therapist it is quite apparent that he is suffering. May he find God and a better respect...

I hate to write a negative review for Pepitas, but after repeated disappointing experiences, I feel compelled to share. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but unfortunately, this issue has happened multiple times, and each time is beyond frustrating. I don’t live close by, so returning to the restaurant isn’t a viable option, and ultimately, someone in my group always ends up without a meal.

Today, I placed an online order for pickup. I waited in the lobby until my order was ready, grabbed my food, briefly asked a question at the window, and then left. When I got home and opened the bag, I realized an item was entirely missing.

I called the restaurant and was told they were out of that item—but at no point did anyone contact me to inform me of the issue or offer a substitution. The only resolution I was given was a refund for the missing item (but not for the portion of the tip). No apology, no effort to make things right, nothing to acknowledge the inconvenience of going home with one less meal.

After speaking with the restaurant, we also we discovered that the Cali Burrito was either made incorrectly, or has changed from what is listed on the menu. It had a ton on french fries inside which aren't listed anywhere on the menu for this item and we probably would have chosen something different has we known that it would be made this way.

I’m tired of going hungry and dealing with the restaurant’s repeated failure to communicate with customers. At this point, we won’t...
