Frustrated that I’m already having to write a review, but hoping that maybe THIS will finally warrant some positive result. Moved in a little over a week ago, and I’m pleased with my apartment and the amenities, everything is what it seemed it would be. What I’m already incredibly displeased with is the management and how they’re choosing to resolve resident issues. I was assigned my parking place the weekend I moved in, and I’ve spent maybe a total of one day parked in my spot. After many (many) calls to management, different cars being parked in my spot, and a growing frustration, an email was finally sent out to residents regarding towing in reserved spots. That was five days ago. The same truck (that both my guarantor and I have complained about every single day it’s been parked there) has been parked in my spot since before that email was sent out. Coming home tonight and realizing the SAME truck is in my spot has left me absolutely speechless. Out of all of my calls and emails, I’ve gotten one response and it was the first time I had to call. Don’t know how much longer I have to ask for something to be done, considering the email they sent out said that violators would be towed (obviously this isn’t true). This isn’t a cheap place to live, and it’s absolutely not my job to enforce the rules that management has put in place. I cannot believe I’m having to write this review less than two weeks into living here, but it feels as if no one in that leasing office cares. Hoping this issue gets resolved somewhat soon, because I had high hopes for this place.
UPDATE I thought this issue had finally been resolved when I placed yet another call and complained about the same truck. What I (finally) found was that the person parking in my spot was under the impression that it was their spot. While I'm still completely confused as to how that could have occurred (other than the fact that management has been anything but clear when it comes to parking), I was just relieved to know that the person was moving their vehicle and hopefully this parking issue would come to an end. I received another call from Shelby in the office later that day, explaining the situation again and reminding me that if someone is ever parked in my spot again, I had the power to tow them through Texas Impound. I'd already been given their contact information by the first woman who assisted me earlier in the day, but it was nice to be reminded of this service.
Flash forward to tonight when I got home. To my surprise, there is now a different car parked in my spot. As you can imagine, I'm extremely frustrated and less than patient with this situation at this point. I call Texas Impound to tow the car, because as much as I'd like to be nice and just ask management to ask them to move, that route hasn't exactly worked out in my favor. On the phone with Texas Impound, I was informed that they aren't yet towing at U Centre. What I find completely incredible is how there was an email sent out by management informing residents that towing was being enforced in reserved spots and TWO different staff members both told me I had the power to tow and provided me towing information, yet when I am stuck in the very situation I keep finding myself in, apparently towing isn't being enforced here yet? Words cannot describe how infuriating this is every time I come home to find someone in my spot and to be able to do absolutely nothing about it until the office opens at 10am. I don't have the time or energy to continuously have to call or go up to the office to be able to park in the spot I'm paying for. Getting so so so tired of this. Can't wait to deal with this again in...
Read moreThe apartments are OK, but the prices are far beyond what they should be, e.g. I am paying 6XX$ (varies 20$ based on bills) for a single bedroom in a four-bedroom apartment. That works out to roughly 2.5K$ gross profit made per-apartment (and prices for smaller units are adjusted, so there's a similar gross for all unit totals). The service level received certainly does not match that. For instance, the maintenance team seems severely understaffed - I've really only seen about five unique crew members for the two four-story buildings. They may be assigned in zones, I don't know. But what I do know is that it took the management several weeks to notice that vandals had defeated the perimeter security, and that the deadbolt plate on my apartment door has been damaged for going on two weeks - even though it's a documented and acknowledged problem. The same applies to appliances - particularly the refrigerator, which is just mechanically and physically incapable of handling four people that cook and store food in it. Additionally, you shouldn't expect any decent roommate matching, despite what is advertised. Given all this though, I must say that the staff are very nice.
Here's a distilled list of caveats and info:
The management will likely claim that they have police living on site - this is technically correct, as they rent a single room to an officer. Keep in mind though, that this development houses a massive quantity of people.
The management will likely claim that they have "vendors" that provide services like carpet cleaning - though this doesn't appear to be the case since they own and operate such cleaning equipment on their own. They still will hire contractors for more elaborate tasks. I suspect they make claims like this so that they can bill former residents for services that they appear to perform regardless of apartment state, such as carpet cleaning.
Don't expect your room to be in tip-top shape. When I moved in I found foil on my window, and the toilet tissue holder was mostly missing, and still is. The walls were also dirty.
You can supposedly contact the staff after-hours, as I was told, but when I tried this during a non-emergency urgent situation I was sent to an answering service that played dumb.
If you don't schedule payments far ahead (at least two months in advance), or don't pay with money orders or cheques in person, expect to be charged a 20$ "convenience fee" (even for bank transfers (!)), despite no suggestion that a middle-man is processing payments. This means that if you have a bill that causes your balance to exceed what you scheduled and you don't have a cheque book, you must either pay it plus twenty dollars (ludicrous), or pay with a money order.
SUPER IMPORTANT NOTE: Building one is quite apparently kept in much better condition than building two. I suspect that this is because the leasing office is in building two, as well as their model unit. For example, all the locks and elevators work in building two, and are generally fixed as soon as a problem arises. The stairwells are quite clean, as well as any other public area. In building two, on the other hand, the stairwells routinely have urine, vomit, feces and trash in them (it eventually does get dealt with though), and the locks usually get vandalized or disabled pretty frequently. As a matter of fact, the vandalism for one exit got so bad that the management permanently bolted it shut rather than continuing to fix it.
If for some reason you move in here, know that you will probably need to CYA anything and everything that you think you might get...
Read moreOur first impression of this student apartment complex was, unfortunately, deeply disappointing. On August 17, 2025, we attempted to move our son into his assigned room, one of four in a shared apartment with a common area. The experience was marred by poor organization, unprofessional staff, and a complete lack of management presence.
Upon arrival, the male staff member at the front desk was unhelpful and seemed bothered by our presence. Basic instructions—such as how to locate the apartment, where to park for unloading, or even how to find our son’s specific room (Room D)—were not provided unless repeatedly prompted. Unlike the complex’s sister property, the rooms here inside the apartment were unmarked, leading to unnecessary confusion, especially on a busy move-in day.
The apartment itself was in deplorable condition: filthy and reeking of marijuana. The key we were given didn’t work on any door. Another roommate, already present, informed us that the unlocked room, strewn with clothes on the bed and floor, was supposedly our son’s. After returning to the front desk, we spent the next 1.5 hours walking back and forth with staff, who eventually realized the door was never locked, allowing another student to mistakenly move in - at least so we were told.
Shockingly, no manager was on duty during this critical move-in weekend, a baffling oversight for a student apartment complex the day before classes start. As a corporate professional with over 30 years of experience, I find it unimaginable that management would be absent on such a pivotal day. We were given only email addresses to contact, with no immediate resolution offered. Time slipped away into the evening, and with no accommodations provided, we had no choice but to return home—an hour away—empty-handed. We were given the option of moving all the student's clothes off the floor, bed, table and all their other stuff "for them" into the other room. A student we have literally never met. I literally laughed out loud, why wouldn't the staff being paid to provide customer service do that? It was their error, correct?
Prior to leaving and trying to avoid returning multiple vehicles back home full of stuff, we requested a temporary move to an available one-bedroom unit, proposing our son could relocate to his assigned room once it was vacated and cleaned (a process we estimated would take no more than 48 hours). This reasonable solution was flatly denied, with no explanation beyond apparent inconvenience to the staff—and, of course, no manager available to make a decision.
As a result, our son will need to wake up 2-3 hours early on his first day of school tomorrow to commute, and I will have to take additional time off work to hopefully resolve this with management and get him moved in. While issues can arise, what prompts this review is the blatant lack of care and professionalism from the management team. Failing to have leadership present on move-in day at a student apartment complex is inexcusable.
I will update this review once we have the chance to connect with management and, hopefully, secure the room we are already paying for. For now, I am thoroughly unimpressed and cannot recommend this complex based on...
