Just be cautious and ready if you have a handicap placard visibly displayed in your vehicle and have parked in the first handicap stall by the main entrance. If it's cold out, the security guard will not take the time to see if you indeed have your placard displayed, but will rather ask you why you parked in the handicap stall. While not breaking any ADA law, but certainly infringing upon its tenets, the act is nevertheless offensive and unnecessary because it could have been avoided had the security guard done his job of "securing" the building rather than chit-chatting on the staircase of the warm library. Who incidentally, only asked me about my parking choice as I walked past he and his chit-chat mate on the staircase rather than he coming to seek me out as one would do if I had committed such an egregious offense. Imagine he asking a thief, "Why are you putting all those books in your backpack" rather than checking with staff first to learn if a patron had indeed checked out those 20 books? Society, please don't create of pattern of picking on people with disabilities; the world is already hard enough for...
Read moreThis was my first visit to this branch of the Denver Public Library, and it is not a convenient location for me, but I was in search of immediate gratification for a specific DVD that was only available here. The DVD was on the shelf where it was supposed to be, so my mission was a success.
The building is quite striking on the outside with interesting materials and architecture, nice landscaping, and a large parking lot. It was completed in 1962 as the last of four branches financed by the Frederick R. Ross Trust. The design has held up very well as it still looks quite fresh and contemporary. There was a major renovation in 1994.
The inside is much less interesting, but appears well-stocked with a large selection of books, various media, computers, and a good...
Read moreThis Library, although smaller than the main library has a lot. And if there is something you want they don't have, you can put it on hold and it will come to you. How long you wait depends on where it's coming from and if someone else has it at the time, waiting for them to return it then it gets sent to this library and you get emailed that it has arrived. The staff is awesome and very friendly. You can never tell if they are having a bad day or not, always in a good mood. I have only been there for a short period of time and have already checked out probably 100 audio books and they get them to me no problem. This is an awesome place. If your hesitant on coming to this library, you can put yourself at ease, this is a nice place to come. Very...
