DO NOT GIVE DENVER MAC REPAIR YOUR BUSINESS OR MONEY!
I’m not one to leave reviews, especially not bad reviews, and especially not for a small business. However, at a certain point it becomes warranted, and in this particular case I can’t recall ever having a worse experience as a paying customer, anywhere, for anything so I feel I’m left no choice but to share.
I brought my iPhone 8 plus into Denver Mac Repair in early February with a broken screen- they repaired it in less than an hour, but immediately upon picking it up something looked off- the image was flat and desaturated. I took it back to my office thinking it might be my imagination, googled the problem and found it to be an issue with 3rd party repairs using cheaper parts. I called them immediately and they offered to replace the screen again later that afternoon which they did. On several occasions following this second replacement I noticed a lack of reactivity on the screen- it wasn’t recognizing when I touched it and occasionally it would freeze. I called and made Denver Mac Repair aware of this issue but as it would come and go I didn’t feel the need to go in for yet another screen replacement at the time.
3 weeks later I dropped my phone from a foot off the ground (with a case on) and the screen immediately shattered- odd because this seemed like a harmless enough fall and I’ve only broken the screen once before, after a number of hard drops where small chips became big cracks over time. I brought my phone back to Denver Mac Repair, and returned an hour later to pick it up. Christopher handed me my phone, and not only had the screen been replaced but the home button was as well, with a bright white part not designed for my black phone.
Christopher went on to say that “the screen had been repaired so many times that the connection to the home button had come loose and we needed to replace it” but this was all that they had in stock. He let me know that I could bring it back in a few weeks when they had the correct park and that they would replace it. By the time I returned to my office it was clear that this new white home button didn’t actually work. I called Christopher immediately, at which point he explained that there is a security chip in the home button that can only be replaced by Apple, and that at this point it will no longer work and it cannot be fixed or replaced.
He blamed this on me, insisting that it was my fault because of my need for the screen replacement, but offered a $10 refund for my now barely-functioning phone.
Within two days the screen began to fail- it wouldn’t respond to touch, vertical lines appeared, and it would freeze. I brought it back and had the screen replaced for a 4th time. I was told they would look for a replacement phone but in over a month this offer went nowhere. The screen failed yet again and I brought the phone back for a 5th repair, during which they also replaced the non-functioning white home button with a non-functioning black one. I expressed that I was still dissatisfied and Christopher again blamed me again for the situation.
I was finally offered a refund for the cost of the screen (not the labor) and currently have a phone with another failing screen and a home button that doesn’t work.
I’ve given up and just ordered a new phone.
I have exchanged several emails with the owner, but have only received short and curt responses, and no offer to help or make the situation right.
I called Denver Mac Repair today and was hung up on by Christopher after he told me there was nothing else he was going to do.
I also called a Senior Advisor at Apple and went through this with them- their answer was that Denver Mac Repair must be using low-quality parts, and this was not only the reason for the failing and unresponsive screens, but also likely the reason for the...
Read moreI am writing this poor review after my recent, very frustrating experience with Denver Mac Repair in the hopes of warning others about being diligent when it comes to the repair of their electronic devices.
One of the cameras on my iPhone 13 Pro broke and I took it to Apple and they said it was old and this just happens sometimes. Because Apple's fee to fix it was so large, I found Denver Mac Repair instead which had a more reasonable rate. I took it in and they said it would be no problem and it would be ready in about 1-2 hours. After 4 hours I called them using another phone and they said that while they were fixing the camera, they broke the screen of my phone in the process but that they fixed it, at no additional cost- I said fine.
I went in to pick it up, close to 5pm and they said that if I had any problems to bring it back and they would fix it. Well, I had huge problems. Nothing on my phone was working and was lagging really badly to the point where I could not close out of maps, or even end a phone call, the screen was just not responsive at all. I was leaving the country the next day and really needed my phone to work for navigation among many other things. So I took it back immediately before they closed at 6pm, where I a received a grudging response from their repair expert that he would do "the best he could since we close in 1/2 an hour". They broke the phone and the inconvenience is my fault apparently? Second time around 'fixing' the screen and absolutely no improvement and I was still leaving the country in a matter of 12 hours.
I had to bite the bullet, get a new phone, trade in the old one (for less value than the broken camera would have been if I had given that to them originally) and then I left on my trip.
I called them immediately after returning from my trip and was not even able to get a refund because per their policy they needed the old phone back (for the parts) which I had to give to my phone carrier within 14 days of receiving the new one I took on the trip- and unfortunately my trip was two weeks, so I had no choice but to give it to them before I left the country.
I am extremely frustrated because I traded in a phone for less value than it was worth and lost money to 'repair' the old one in the first place.
Please check your phone carrier policies and your phone insurance policies before coming here and trusting them to fix your device(s) so you do not end up in a situation like...
Read moreI decided that I wanted to do business with Denver Mac Repair because of the glowing reviews that I read here.
The Friday night before I was planning a trip to their 8th Avenue location, I emailed one of the reps, 'Sean', via the contact info on their website, regarding any Mac Pros that might be available for sale. Knowing how busy any shop can be on a Saturday morning, I didn't expect him to answer my email anytime soon that day.
At around eleven am, I decided to call the shop. Sean himself answered the phone and after I told him what I was looking for, he immediately remembered seeing my email and told me that he hadn't had time to get to it that morning. I told him that was okay (and it was).
The problem started with his general annoyance over the fact that I was asking some technical questions about a Mac Pro that they had for sale. He seemed quite sure that what I was asking about could not be done, when I knew this to be otherwise, based on my own research and experience with this particular computer.
What was puzzling to me is that he didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about the subject. That or he just wanted to get back to talking about Macbooks and iPhones, which is, I'm guessing, the bulk of Denver Mac Repair's customer base.
So, he pretty much blew me off, telling me: "I have three other customers here– I'll do some research and call you back in half an hour". Despite the generally bad feeling that I had acquired over this four or five minute conversation, I was fine with the situation as we left it.
The reason I decided to write this review is that Sean didn't call back in a half an hour. Sean never called back at all. The first rule in any business is: Stand by Your Word. If you say you're going to do something– do it, even if it's a simple call back.
BTW- Yes, at least one of the so called "Excellent" reviews on this site is disingenuous. This person-friend-family member, actually wrote ONE review and used it, word-for-word, for BOTH Mac Repair locations, she just swapped out "Denver"...
