I have no ill will towards Best or Geek Squad in general. And even the places i rated 1 star gone back and changed it to 5 stars after issue is resolved.. I have brought electronics from them for over 6 years. But this specific Geek Squad at Deptford , NJ WOW do not know where to start!!!! I really wish i could give me 0 star...but something tells me the apathy towards the customer means, nothing would register :). But here goes...SO IF YOU HAVE SEEN PREVIOUS BAD REVIEWS ABOUT SAMSUNG PHONE BATTERY REPLACEMENT OR SAMSUNG PHONE RELATED ISSUES THEY ARE TRUE POINT TO POINT TO POINT...I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW FREAKISHLY SIMILAR MY EXPERIENCES ARE TO THEIRS. So first it is odd that only some Geek Squads do some services, the reason why i brought Geek Squad is that i could walk into any story and get any of my problem fixed....okay i was not going to be nit picky about this .. so begrudgingly drove to Deptford like 20 more miles from the nearest Best Buy...Okay i went on Saturday no appointment, so far not dissapointed that they did not serve me that day. The GS books a time of my choosing, after he made a cursory assessment of Samsung Note 8 phone told me it would take them 2 hours and if they had previous phones from last night their phones get a preference...okay perfectly fine so i block a date for Friday....assuming (naively) that everything will be taken care of. So i go in Friday taking 1/2 day off work...and then...." Sorry we do not have the part for this Note 8, we do not know how long it is going to take"...to be completely fair he did say " ... your phone will get preference when we do get the parts"....They could have done a couple of things for Business 101 5W's Why ? Where ? When ? Who ? What ? Battery Replacement ? At Deptford ? Friday ? Customer ? Samsung Note 8? If they did not have that ...they could have given i) me a call in advance even on Friday and told me that the part is not available....or ii) given me a warning last Saturday that they may not have any parts on that day iii)Preemptively order the part for inventory and even if i did not show up i am sure i am not the only one in the Philadelphia MSA with that specific Note 8 that has a problem...I am lost for words....So i have decided i will never by Geek Squad for phone support...But full disclosure their Laptop service is good they fixed hardware issue with my audio jack....BUT I RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM THE PHONE SUPPORT...YES THE SCREEN BREAK REPLACEMENT COULD BE ENTICING...BUT I HAVE A PREMONITION OF HOW THAT WILL PLAY OUT..So i go in my Note 8 screen cracks...i drive 30 miles..and they say they do not have a Screen at that moment and would have to order it ...and they order it and it takes ages for the screen....by which time you could be fed up and think it is better of buying a...
Read moreI basically never write reviews especially since I worked in retail for over a decade, but had to mention my experience with the Geek Squad in Deptford. I had purchased online 4 security cameras and a doorbell to be installed by Geek Squad. I set up the appoint for 6/26 from 1130a-4p. The day comes and I get a call at 730am from the Geek Squad member stating that his work truck is in the shop and he doesn't have his tools so he can't come to my house to install my hardware. I thought this was strange, but figured things happen and maybe everyone else was booked. He said that he could reschedule my appointment and asked what days I could do. We ended up booking for the next Saturday for the earliest appointment which started at 8am. Fast forward to the next Saturday and no one showed up until I decided to call at 11am just to make sure someone was still coming. The person I spoke to said that my appointment was 1130am - 4pm which I was confused about since the tech before told me 8am would be the start of the gap of time my appointment would start. They assured me a tech would be coming out so at this point I was a bit frustrated, but just wanted to get the hardware installed. Four pm hit and no one showed up. I called back to speak to a manager who stated that no appointment was scheduled and she was not sure why I was told that a tech was coming out. They told me the best they could do in this situation was to schedule a new appointment, but all that was open was weekday times mid-day with no weekend appointments for the rest of the year. At this point I cancelled the service since I can't take a day off of work just to get 4 cameras and a doorbell installed. Read moreVery poor experience with Geek Squad. Was instructed to bring my slightly cracked phone to this location for repair @ $250.00 Immediately upsold me on paying extra $50 because they'll probably break the back during repair. Made me wait several hours only to tell me they can't fix it because there's a "board problem". Total BS, the phone worked perfectly and only had a slight crack that was irritating me.
Handed me my phone back with a completely shattered backing, held together by clear tape, and now had sharp edges. Further, the phone is now not working properly... rebooting on its own for no reason, screen flickering too.
The woman at the counter wearing a Samsung shirt and a moo-moo has no customer skills and offered no apologies... only that silly excuse that there's a board problem and Samsung won't let them work on phones with board problems. I contacted Samsung and they were very apologetic and told me to send phone directly to them for repair.
DO NOT USE GEEK SQUAD! They are not Samsung, don't be fooled by the shirt that says Samung. You are paying Geek Squad and the minimum-wage workers there are, by all means, Geek Squad and NOT qualified to work on mobile phones.
UPDATE: Just wanted to say... I got my phone back from Samsung and they fixed both the front & back screen for $225 (including fast shipping), and installed a new battery at no charge. Phone looks and acts brand new. Thank you Samsung for making this right!!...
