@seattlesouthside challenged us to find 5 microadventures in the area of Des Moines, Tukwila, and Seatac. What is a microadventure you ask?! Microadventures are all around us. They are things in our own backyards that we are sometimes too busy to notice. These are meant to inspire exploration close to home and help you find things to do that may be outside your comfort zone or go-to activities. 🥾Green River Trail: This trail is best accessed from Fort Dent Park. You can wander up to 19 miles total on this trail. Bonus: it is paved and is a great accessible option for all! 🎳Bowlero: A great stop if you have kids or just want to feel like a kid again. Besides great food and drink, this place is packed with activities like bowling, pool, arcade games, and more. 🍴Anthony’s Seafood: The views of Puget Sound are unmatched from this restaurant. The food and drink selection is incredible - surf and turf specifically is a must-order. 🌅Des Moines Marina & Beach Park: If you want the best sunset view in the Seattle-Tacoma area, this spot is at the top of our list. A fishing pier juts out into the sound allowing 360 views of the ocean and surrounding landscape. ✈️Museum of Flight: We are not museum people typically but this place really changed our perspective on that. We loved exploring and immersing ourselves in all the interactive exhibits and simulators. It is not an everyday thing you find a place that you can mock fly a fighter jet! For more information - head to the link in our bio to research more about Seattle Southside. Let us know what your favorite microadventure is close to you! We challenge you to get out and explore home a little more - you don’t realize how much there is to see. #seattlesouthside #microadventures #curiouslywonderful #travelwashington #pnwtravel

Updated 10/11/2023 The renovation to the pier is finished, and it looks so beautiful! You can take your family for a walk or fish there now. _______________ I still love the Des Moines Marina Pier and give it five stars. Before the ongoing construction at this pier, people stopped by every evening for a walk. We used to be able to do crabbing and fishing. There was no metered parking or anything like that. Now, you can still fish on the pier, but it's not a good place for catching flounder. During the summer months, there are events like the farmer's market. They sell cooked food, giving away shopping bags and coloring items for kids.

I use to live in this beautiful city. Our house was close to the Marina. So I decided to visit the Marina on my last morning to see the bay since I had not had a chance to on my short trip. Was foggy but clearing. Very peaceful. Nice walking trails with people enjoying them. Was such a good trip! I use to run the trail from my house all the way to the Marina. The sunsets are beautiful here. If you’re an early bird? The sunrises are breathtakingly gorgeous 😍 I love this city and every time I’m in town ? I have to make a quick stop before I leave. My daughter is in the city with my family and I hope she loves it here !!!!

I was here on the 7th of October at about 3:30 p.m. until about 4:30 p.m.. the four-star rating is because of the parking fee which I believe is ridiculous. The fee is $2.50 for the initial hour and then a $1.50 per hour after that. This this is communist bull pucky. That aside, it is a huge parking lot, the pier is nice to walk out on it's a very long pier, and you can fish from the pier which I had about 4:00 several people showed up to do just that. Over the past two or three years they've done some construction out there which included taking away the boat launch that used to be out there for the public. So unless you belong to the yacht club you cannot launch a boat which is also...
