Had our boat here for nearly 10 years and honestly haven’t found a worse marina outside of the one on the other side of the reservoir. Now have our boat on Lake Champlain where marinas are, well real marinas, with things like travel lifts and real shipyard service. Also, just bought a real trailer sailer for Colorado, no marinas needed, especially the two in Summit County. The two marinas there want you to kiss their rears in exchange for their abysmal service and straight up incompetence. All for what, their ski bum staff, half of which won’t be their next season. Makes perfect sense to make an enemy out of a longtime customer, which is what they’ve done here. I’ve been meaning to write this review for quite some time and believe me, if I could give them zero stars I would. Both are owned by their respective towns and have no incentive whatsoever to treat their customers like, well customers. If you want to rent a boat, canoe or a kayak from them, maybe they’re half way decent at that as that’s absolutely their singular focus. They could care less about their slip holders. Anyway, I couldn’t be happier to never have to deal with them ever again. I can even sail my trailer sailer on Dillon and there isn’t a thing either of them can do about it, otherwise I won’t hesitate to report them to Denver Water. Also, I can sail better than half the morons at their beloved yacht club that they’ll be the first ones to tell you they are not associated with, but are in every way that counts. Have pictures from the aftermath of their horrible work too, so go head and ask me to post them if want to see...
Read moreVery mediocre experience renting a pontoon boat here. I know the bar can be low renting around here, but for around $300 for just 2 hours, we expected a better experience. Our boat was soaking wet all over the seats when we arrived (it hadn’t rained that morning yet), and they only half heartedly wiped it down with a soaking wet towel (and we had to do more ourselves). The seats were completely torn up—and I don’t mean little tiny rips, I mean huge rips almost a foot long all over the lounge seating. And then we got about 10 minutes into the ride and realized that the steering was WAY off (I had to grip the wheel pretty hard just to prevent it from steering all the way to the right). We took the boat back to the dock to switch out to another boat, and rather than adding any time for the inconvenience of going back and switching out a problematic boat, we were told we still had to return at the same time or face late fees. They did apologize for the motor issue. The 2nd boat didn’t have steering issues thankfully, but the Bluetooth stereo never worked (it didn’t work on the first boat either). Again, for a $300 2-hour rental, this felt like a miss between the ripped seats and the defective motor and the lack of a stereo. Hoping they do some maintenance on their fleet or upgrade to newer boats. 3 stars honestly just because it’s beautiful boating on Dillon with such...
Read moreDillon Marina did an alright job getting us squared away for a 2 hr sail around the lake at sunset. The Captain Alex was top notch and did the complete tour guide routine for our family of five. Very knowledgeable and we felt completely safe and enjoyed his company. The company does have a couple of issues we think noteworthy. The first guy behind the counter was smug and rude at check in; he’s not a fan of people who don’t know the area or aren’t from there, so we don’t recommend his choice of profession in the tourism industry. The sail boat was very small and uncomfortable for six grown adults regardless of what the brochure says; our legs were crossing over each others and there’s little room for packs or snacks and the wood benches were murder on everyone’s bum for 2 hrs. Lastly, it’s incredibly expensive considering all of the above ($750). Alex and the sheer beauty of Lake Dillon are all...
