Stayed here recently in Feb. Hotel is newer, rooms are clean, staff friendly. Breakfast was ok, the area is rather small and gets quite crowded especially on weekends.
As many have commented on the HVAC issues, I too had issues with my room being too hot. When I let the front desk know they apologized and sent me a contractor that works on the thermostats. He wasn't able to help and essentially said he doesn't work or cover the AC units, but only the thermostats. Essentially he didn't do anything but apologize that he couldn't do anything. I went back to the front desk frustrated that they sent me someone that couldn't do anything. The front desk offered to change rooms and when we checked on the other room it was even hotter than the first. Essentially they said "sorry, open the windows, and I hope it cools down". Honestly not a very good solution.
Essentially the way the new HVAC units are setup the AC won't work if the outside temps are below a threshold like 30F. Well, the problem is the hotel runs hot (my room was about 77 degrees) you can't cool the room down much. You can open the windows slightly but they only open a small amount. Essentially I didn't sleep well as the room was too hot and I slept with the window open all night. Since my room was by the front entrance I had to put up with noise during the eve and night (as I chose hopefully cooler temps over the noise) and in the am.
When I checked out, the front desk asked how everything went during the night and I told them it was too hot and never really cooled down and that I slept poorly. They apologized and offered Hilton points approximately 50% of a nights stay and I accepted. The clerk told me it would be posted in about 1-2 weeks.
About three weeks later I called again and inquired about the points as they never posted. I was told by another agent they saw all the notes in my reservation and they would put the request in with the GM again. Two weeks after that no points I called again and spoke to a manager. This time the manager told me they would personally speak to the GM to see this through. Three weeks later still no points, so I called again and I was transferred to the GM's VM and I left a message. That was a week ago and I still haven't received any calls back or had any attempts to follow through with the promise.
Honestly, if the stay were simply based on the hotel I probably would leave a 3-4 star review. If the hotel fixes their HVAC issues to allow for cooler temps I'd say the property is maybe a 4 star place. But to be frank, the lack of follow through on the GM (mostly) in a situation he is well aware of is the reason for the 2 star review. I am going to stop chasing this down but to be honest I probably won't ever stay at this hotel again if the GM shows little regard to address issues with his guests especially when his staff promised to make it right via points. Not that status is of importance here, but I am an Hilton elite member. I also hold status with several other chains (Hyatt, IHG, Marriott) and in the future I will stay at other Hilton properties or other brands when staying in Summit. It's unfortunate as this property is nice and has lots of potential, but service and follow through is a big part of customer service and the Homewood Suites Dillon failed here repeatedly for me.
Edited Jul 2022: If you see the response from management to my post along with several others you can see it is a duplicate canned response. After reaching out twice more since they posted their response to my review they have not responded to me at all. I’m convinced management does not care about responding to issues...
Read moreInitially I booked an Airbnb but changed to this location because of the ameneties this hotel offered. This location allowed my car to stay dry from the snow, gym to lift weights without getting out in the weather, hot tub outdoors to enjoy the ambience of snow falling while in the hot tub, and a restuarant/bar.
Location of this hotel was perfect for this single lady to check out. I travel ALOT for pleasure and have seen a variety of locations. Good and bad.
Upon arrival and during my stay, Jan 10-13, the staff were ALL great. This hotel is in excellant shape. Very clean!
Centrally located to the places of Frisco, Silverthorn, Copper Mountain, and Breckinridge. Quitely located close to the lake. Couple restuarants within couple blocks of hotel. Reminder, this is all during prime time winter. I was great just to walk in the eve and enjoy the views.
Weather during my trip was in the negatives with a snow storm that moved in the day I arrived. With this happening, I appreciated that I could get back to the hotel and enjoy cocktails/ dinner/ hot tub all in one spot after skiing.
The gym was great. Nice large size room with quality equipment, weights, weighted balls, and 2 large big screen TVs. I liked this so I could log into my training format and follow along without having to use a tiny cell phone screen. I liked that I didn't have to leave the hotel out in the snow to have a quality gym. No one was at the gym at 530 am, which was an extra plus for me.
Parking garage was $15/ night but WELL WORTH it for the 3 night stay. It was heated. I enjoyed I didn't have to scrap my windows. It was a tight fitting entry/exit door for my rental SUV. Whoever designed that width made a poor choice as displayed by multiple scraps on the entry/exit perimeter poles. This issue was the worst issue I have to say about my stay.
Restuarant/bar upstairs was great. Rooftop view, outdoor fireplace, and weather permitting seating outdoors. The bartender was fun. She loves her bartending skills. The first night I arrived, kitchen was out of the Ribeye steak so I ordered the short ribs. Very tender.
Although, I rarely eat hotel breakfast (strict healthy clean eater), I did enjoy a couple items that were offered. I don't eat hotel scrambled eggs, breads, pastries and all the usual processed crap that is offered by hotels. I did enjoy the boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Although, the fruit could of been cut into bite size pieces. I tried one day the omelets with cheese. Added some salsa. They were decent.
In the evening, I only made it to one night to the free cocktail/snack hour. This was great! I was upstairs at the rooftop bar enjoying myself and forgot about the times.
Bed was comfortable. I liked the suite type kitchen with every thing you need. I was surprised that the items I saw in the cabinets.
Hot tub was nice. Very pretty with the snow coming down. It was icy at the base steps coming in. Not sure if something could be done to keep from someone falling at the entry way. Because of the snow, not really a place to keep your hotel card, towel, and clothing dry. You must have hotel card to get in/out of this area.
Overall, I am very glad I stayed. I will be back at this location. The view from room 416 was AMAZING. The lady at the desk picked a perfect view for my first time being in Colorado during snow. I posted the picture. I took so many pictures of this view and bragged about my stay to friends...
Read moreThe Hotel is new and because of it things are new and are clean. Now the staff, a ”Daisy” and a “Natalie” called us to the room accusing us to be taking things from the housekeeper cart. We were shocked by this statement because before taking anything out from the cart we had asked the housekeeper that was cleaning the room in front of our room for everything we got out of the cart: 3 coffees, 5 creamers, 3 coffee cups with their lids. We are not from town or nearby, we flew in with our 2 toddlers. We have no reason to be “taking” things from the cart to hoard them or to take them back home. Both, Daisy and Natalie did not want to transfer the call to a manager so we could discuss what perspired with management. Natalie Went as far as telling my husband that she will have us be removed from the hotel. In other words, if you don’t let them accuse you of “taking” things w/o authorization you are going to be bullied and threatened to be kicked out of the hotel. The lady that came to our room (Luisa) even went as far as recording our exchange when she came in to drop off an item we had requested from day one, a sponge to do dishes. Now we are requesting a full inspection of the room because we are afraid they will accuse us of taking things such as a TV, dishes, utensils, coffee maker, pots and pans, the shower doors…. Etc. once we leave our room to flight back home. Their handling of things is silly and very unprofessional.
Also, “Luisa” the hotel inspector, stated that the management of this Hotel deducts/subs-tracts from housekeepers paychecks any item thats missing from the cart assigned to them. That is an awful practice that the managers/owners of this hotel are doing. The housekeepers are new in this country, speak only Spanish and more than likely struggling to make ends meet and here you have them taking advantage of their situation..
As of the moment they are stating that they are not harassing us. The only thing we did was call the Hilton Honors desk demanding to speak to a manager in regards to them accusing us of “taking things” from the cart. Then a “Natalie” comes knocking our door to continue stating that we had taken things from the housekeeper cart, when we requested someone to come in and do an inspection she made claims that she felt not safe coming in into our room. When we continued to deny their accusations an “officer from Dillon police stepped into the exchange. He stated that he was not charging us with anything nor trespass us. All of this while “Natalie”was falsely accusing us. Now we called the front desk to ask for a Privacy Sign since our room was poorly stocked and were told by a “Daisy” that we needed to leave the room. When we asked why, both “Natalie” and “Daisy” stated to be scared of guests who voice complains to management and escalate concerns to the...
