WORST CASHIER EVER!!!! I visited the store tonight and the most rude & unprofessional employee rang me up. When I’ve visited the store in the past, all the employees have been extremely welcoming, patient, and friendly especially when it came time to pay. Tonight though, I was rung up by a woman wearing an all denim outfit. I greeted her and asked how her night was going but she responded with an annoyed glare. I was putting my items onto the counter and as I was, I asked if it would be okay if she could put two items on a gift receipt. She ignored me the first time so I assumed she didn’t hear me and I asked again if that would be okay. The second time she looked at me blankly and stared at me. For the third time I asked, she responded with “what???”. Additionally throughout the transaction she was confused on which items needed a gift receipt even though I had set them aside to make them distinct from the rest of the items I was buying. The interaction that fueled me to write this review was when this cashier accused me of stealing. As I was placing items on the counter, I noticed the cashier was scanning items messily. Merchandise was spread across the counter and I was placing additional items I had in my cart one at a time. While she was scanning, I mentioned that I was purchasing two of the same items but only one needed to have a gift receipt. She looked at me and said “well I can’t do it from the cart.. I need it in front of me” in a very harsh tone. I get it, people try to steal and hide things in their cart but I’m clearly waiting for the cashier to scan everything on the counter before I place more stuff on it. I said “no worries!”, then proceeded to grab the items and the cashier responded with, “I need it HERE!!” At this point, I thought maybe she was having a bad night so I didn’t take her tone to heart. But then I thought to help her, I could start bagging the scanned items. Instead of just going ahead and doing it, I asked if it would be okay to start bagging. She responded with “No don’t do that, I didn’t scan that yet!!! Can’t you wait. You need to put whatever I scan in the bag”. Funny enough, the items she said not to touch were the first couple items she scanned. I know she wasn’t referring to the newly placed items because she pointed at specific items. Additionally, I didn’t even make any movements to bag anything, I was simply asking. Before this gets too long I’ll just list the last three interactions that were terrible: (1) As I was reaching into my bag to pay, the cashier said “Can you pay??” And under her breath she said “taking forever”, (2) I asked if she could wrap the two items that needed gift receipts and she responded with “hm” with a very disrespectful side eye, and (3) even after being treated so discourteously, I told her to have a good night and she responded with “hm” and as I left I heard her say “whatever”. Mind you, she is a GROWN woman not a teenager or young adult. I work retail too and I understand that by the end of your shift sometimes you’re just drained but her behaviors were so egregious that her actions were inexcusable. I hope she reads this review and gets a wake up call. Worst service I’ve ever...
Read moreI have been a devoted TJ Maxx shopper for years, consistently visiting multiple times a week and enjoying a great relationship with the staff and management. However, a recent return experience has significantly tainted my view of the store.
During my latest shopping trip, I purchased several items which unfortunately did not fit. I removed the tags before trying them on but carefully kept them, along with the receipt, anticipating a straightforward exchange if needed—a rare occurrence for me. When I attempted to exchange these items for those that fit correctly, and even offered to pay an additional $40 above my original purchase, I faced unexpected obstacles.
The new staff member claimed that the tags did not match their system’s records due to an apparent store error. However, instead of resolving the issue with flexibility and understanding, I was met with a rigid adherence to protocol that was not customer-centric. My suggestion to confirm my purchase through store video footage was outright dismissed, with security options unavailable on site and a direction to call customer service for resolution.
This experience highlighted a glaring lack of training and leadership at TJ Maxx, where the authority to make practical decisions in light of store errors was absent. Being blamed and shamed for a system error, and having a genuine attempt to resolve it at my own additional expense dismissed, was both disrespectful and disillusioning.
Regrettably, this incident has compelled my family, associates, and myself to seek better customer service elsewhere, where respect and adaptability are not only policies but are...
