The only reason this place gets two stars is because there are a few quiet spots where you can find some peace within Dubuque — but that’s about where the good news ends. The rest of Dubuque? Hard pass.

If you’re thinking about moving here for a job — don’t. Just… don’t. This city has a gloomy atmosphere year-round, with winters that are mildly depressing and a social climate that’s even worse. It’s a closed-off community where it often feels like if you’re not from here, you’ll never really belong.

Work culture? A disaster. Most decent employers are either packing up or trimming staff. What’s left is a collection of companies that seem to thrive on favoritism, nepotism, and a hiring process that raises more than a few ethical eyebrows.

I worked here — not naming names — and it was an awful chapter of my life. The management culture is straight out of a handbook titled How to Insecurely Micromanage Every Employee. Zero leadership, all control with big cult mentality.

I couldn’t be happier to have left. This...

The riverwalk is such a beautiful place with so much to see. Lots of great views of the MS river, the bridges and historical buildings/landmarks. We learned a lot of new interesting things from the signs that are posted all along the riverwalk. They were full of great information and photos from the past. Lots of unique artwork is placed along the riverwalk to see also. Plenty of places to stop to rest or just enjoy the views and peacefulness. We went right before sunset on a Saturday and it was not crowded at all. It was actually really peaceful the entire walk. There’s an aquarium, museum, boat tours, restaurants, casinos, and a hotel with an indoor waterpark all within...

I've been coming here for years. There's always art along the route and they change the art to keep it looking fresh in my opinion. It's a great place to walk and release the stress of everyday life. Most of the timepeople are nice and quiet unless theres a wedding but they are still nice, there are some people who mess around and sometimes they use drugs (mostly marijuana) but that's normally on the north side past the train tracks. Whenever I come to town I'll stop here for sure. If your into Pokémon Go there are a bunch of...
