Mason Dixon Saloon — Restaurant in Dubuque

We came to the bar at 1:50am and we were all served drinks. 2 minutes later we were told we needed to leave. We asked for drink tickets for the drinks they let us buy and then kicked us out before we could drink. They refused. The bartender who told us to leave was so drunk she slurred all of her words and couldn't form complete sentences. She began to physically shove my siblings and I. As we were leaving, 5 other workers who were also extremely intoxicated came up and got rough with us. All we did was ask for drink tickets and try to leave. Even while outside the establishment, the workers continued to approach us. Someone had to phsycially carry a worker to get them away from us. Police got involved. I have no idea why anyone would ever patron this bar. I've never seen such poor service or felt so physically unsafe in a space. I strongly recommend you chose one of the other amazing bars...

My experience was less than ideal. I understand that a Saturday night can be very crazy and that staffing is difficult. However there are only a few tables in the place. We asked the bartender if we could sit in the open table. He confirmed with the waitress that would be fine. The bartender gave us our drinks and we went to the table. The waitress walked by us multiple times in the 30 minutes that we waited at the front table. Did not ever acknowledge that we were sitting there. Not even a "I will be right with you!" As a former server, you at least make eye contact and acknowledge when walking past. People at the bar that came in after us had their order taken and we didn't get so much as a Hi!.We left money on the table that hopefully covered our drinks and left because we couldn't even get the attention to pay for them. While I was a little reluctant to have a nice family lunch in a restaurant that seems a little heavy handed with the Confederate flag... I was pleasantly surprised. What a nice place to grab a beer and meal downtown. (There are no flags inside, fyi) The decor is top notch. Sort of a southern, whiskey bar kinda place. Lots of TVs for sports. The drink selection is pretty basic, but we had no problem sucking down some domestics. The food was better than I expected, with the Reuben seeming to be the highlight of the menu.
