Nice little park. Costs $3.00 to park. I think if you come in late in the day they will discount you though. Lots of pavillions, restrooms and parking. There's a combination of paved trail, flat walking trail, and more traditional trails. It was nice there were trails with shade and sun. There trails cross crossed everywhere and always lead to a road or pavillion so it is difficult to get lost. Biking and roller skating is allowed. I also saw people bring their dogs. There are two playgrounds I am aware of. I saw canoing is avaliable when the water isn't high and there is also fishing. There's a big wide field people probably do soccer, football or frisbee in and a volleyball net. There's also a fribee golf course. It was very wet a marshy so the trail leading to fribee golf was closed and we were out of time to get there another way. It was highly rated by a frisbee golfer enthusiast when we first moved here. This park seems to get some good use by the locals, it was pretty busy when we arrived. Equipment and things seem to be well maintained and they will put up signs and blocks if it isn't. Park closes at 9:00pm. I don't know if there is seasonal hours. We covered a good portion of the trails in 1 1/2 hours. If you are looking for something more challenging hiking wise this park probably isn't it. Lots of the trails loop so you can definitely get you walking distance in easy and probably could measure it. I'd reccommend this for bicycling if you have smaller children. Older kids will probably find it too small. I haven't visited in summer yet. It is near a lot of water so the mosquitos could be a concern. Today there were a few gnats hbut...
Read moreI had a small get together with my family here around 5:30p.m Sunday and I won't be back! When we first arrived, we ask the lady at the front if all the shelters are rented out? And she said all but 2 shelters, and then she said " If there's nobody there, and it's says it's reserved, you can take it because that means there done for the day." We went towards the evening because we figured the shelters would be done with. WRONG! I FOUND A SHELTER EMPTY(SHELTER 1) AND ONE OF THE PARK WORKERS CHASED MY FAMILY OUT AND TOLD US THAT "IT'S $150 RENTAL AND ITS RESERVED!" AND I CHECKED ON THE WEBSITE AND IT ONLY SAYS $110. SHE THEN PROCEEDS TO SLAM THE TRASH CAN LID AND GAVE MY AUNT AN ATTITUDE AND MY OTHER AUNT TRIED TO GET HER ATTENTION TO SEE IF WE CAN PAY FOR THE SHELTER AND SHE COMPLETELY IGNORED HER. SAD TO SAY, I FEEL LIKE SHE WAS JUST SINGLING MY FAMILY OUT BECAUSE WE ARE ALL MINORITIES! WE DROVE AROUND TO SOME SHELTERS AND ASK SOME OF THE GUEST THERE IF THEY RESERVED IT AND THEY SAID NO, AND YES, THEY WERE ALL CAUCASIAN. THIS PARK WORKER MADE MY FAMILY FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! I WOULD NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PARK AGAIN! I'M SURE IT'S JUST THAT WORKER AND NOT EVERYONE ELSE. THE PARK IS BEAUTIFUL FOR NATURE WALKS, BUT I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND...
Read moreNice mature park... plenty of trees to cool things down and provide relief from that blistering sun, there are walking and bike trails, archery, volleyball, a $2 golf course, spaciously large manicured fields presumably for soccer, there's a chapel, a 3 story observation tower, bathrooms were a bit primitive in my opinion. Drinking fountains were turned off and covered. Because of COVID probably. So getting water for yourself or your dog was impossible if you didn't bring it with you. The entry fee only $3 with plenty of activities for the whole family. The day we visited there was a youth day camp going on that looked like fun. What was REALLY cool about this park, was in all the pavilions we saw had huge pit fireplaces that vented up through the roof. This would be especially fun for girl/boy scouts at night. Too bad there's no camping... it would be a great place for that because of all the picnic tables and spots for day camping...
