The service quality at Meijer has greatly diminished over the last year. The product selection is poor, the chances of a frequently purchased product being in stock is low, and the wait in line is ridiculous.
We had to buy boy sports shorts for our daughter because there was no sports apparel available for girls at the location. Actually, since the layout changes at the store the selection of clothing has been terrible.
There are some items that are frequently purchased by many households that are out of stock one out of every two times we shop at Meijer for that specific product (Cascade dishwashing detergent, Scott toilet paper).
The restroom facilities are beginning to resemble more a 7-11 than the clean facilities expected at a store like Meijer. Dried urine on the seats, feces smears on the walls and seats, urine puddles in the floors. The facilities appear to not have been maintained for days on end.
Each time we go to Meijer, the wait in line seems to get longer. This evening, there were only two manned registers open and the self-checkout was down two registers due to being out of order. We waited in line for nearly 25 minutes.
We started shopping at Meijer because of the greater service quality over Wal-Mart. Now we are abandoning Meijer for Wal-Mart. If I have to settle for lower service quality, I might as well save money while I do.
Update Went to Meijer the night of 10/4. Night manager too lazy to unlock the dressing rooms for 5 minutes. Service quality in Elkhart county is terrible. Too lazy to take care of the customers. It's not like I was asking for a service that isn't offered, or asking to open the deli, chop some meat, or bake a cake when obviously it is outside of hours. Night...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis Meijer has several great things going for it and a few negatives.
First the good: ⢠Their Pharmacy is staffed by the BEST employees Iāve ever interacted withā¦from the Pharmacists to the techs, this team is a team of All-Stars. They answer the phones quickly, are always willing to find the answers to questions they may not know off-hand, and ALWAYS offering top-level customer service. Iāve not had one negative experience with them.
⢠This store seems to always have enough electric carts (Iām handicapped), that are also fully charged (most of the time). This is a refreshing difference to the Wal-Mart up the road, which seldom has enough carts. When they do have enough carts, often they will leave you stranded halfway through your experience due to low battery power.
⢠This store often has great sales on grocery items.
⢠Most off their cashiers are very friendly.
Negatives:
⢠On a few occasions we have gotten home with sub-par fruit/vegetables. We now do a better job of checking for bad spots (apples, salad mixes, celery), mold (strawberries, blackberries), and rotten fruit (bags of tangerines, mini-oranges).
⢠They have a deli dining room (kinda of). It sometimes serves as an employee break area too. Compared to Martinās this area fails as a place that would attract folks to use it. ~ There are no electrical outlets. These could be used to charge oneās electrical cart, if needed; or used to charge oneās phone/laptop. ~ There is a drink machine/soda fountain, but no coffee shop. ~ The ambiance is non-existent (go visit Martinās deli area and take notes).
⢠The last ānegativeā Point is to be that we have hardly ever been asked if we need assistance by any Meijer employee. It seems to be a corporate culture...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisrespectful, bias, unapologetic. Tonight was the third time that our cart full of groceries were taken away from where we left it to go grab a few items from the beauty aisle. The cart were left right along the aisle of the checkout, and there was an employee standing right there too. So, we thought hey! Why not? right? Nope! Gone. Just under 15 minutes. I asked the cashier where our cart could be, she made calls and found out that it was taken away to be recirculated because we left it in the aisle for more than 30 minutes. Unbelievable! So, I asked to speak to a manager; which took forever(maybe due to no one wanting to talk to me) and when she did came she apologize at first then started to play the "it's your fault because you left it too long!" gig, she also said that they not monitor anything with the camera up in the ceiling.....?!? I thought Meijer was better than others chain supermarkets, I guess I had too much expectation from them. No point in me going across town to spend 2-3hours doing groceries shopping where I can do it closer and possibly cheaper too. Why should I spend my money at Meijer to be insulted, when I can spend it somewhere else ... If you shop at Meijer, you better not leave your cart...
