I have been going to this mall since I could remember as a little girl. By the time I was twelve or thirteen I would meet up with my friends on a Friday or Saturday night to see a movie. At one time they have a big women's clothing store with fashionable clothing which I still find it hard to find nowadays. The store was called Debbs and it went out of business about 7 or 8 years ago. The sale was something like 70 or 80% off. I walked out with two giant garbage bag size of clothing for under $200. The Wardrobe included at least six nice dresses you could wear to a nice dinner or even an office job four or five pairs of flats that fit perfectly on my size 10 wide foot and at least 8 pairs of perfectly fitting jeans amongst a few other items. If they brought that store back it would be the only place I shop at for clothing and shoes. Macy's is way too expensive for my taste the only time I go in there is to use their restroom JCPenney's on the other hand is expensive but they're constantly turning their inventory and putting major clearance item racks. You could get yourself a great pair of Nikes on clearance for 25 to $40 which is approximately 40% off the original price. Other than Marshalls I've never seen name brand sneakers on clearance for those prices. They have several snack food places like Cinnabon or frozen yogurt or smoothies which are way overpriced. A 25-cent pretzel with a coffee or beverage will run you about $8 and that's out of my league. Victoria Secrets, Old Navy, Piercing Pagoda and several other shoe clothing or jewelry stores so whatever you are looking for I'm sure you will find if you are willing to pay. There is also a small Center Island type of convenience store with candy bars beverages Lottery and cigarettes but I wouldn't recommend buying your cigarettes here they will cost you between 1 to $2 more then you normally pay. They also have a Red Robin burger joint which is fairly priced only problem is they only really have burgers and when you're going out to eat with a group of seven or eight people you're bound to have at least one person who would prefer to have a salad or steak rather than a Burger so it might be difficult to please everyone there is also a bar inside here I have never purchased any of their drinks but I could imagine you could run up a pretty hefty tab fairly quickly. That Red Robin is fairly new I have seen a handful different types of restaurants in that same location and it seems they only last for a few years. Next door to the Red Robin I believe is Tilted Kilt which is going out of business and Panera Bread which I think is highly overrated and super...
Read moreI usually just go to the dept stores (Macy's & Penneys). It's been 2 years since I've walked through the mall, but Friday night I thought I would take a relaxing stroll through the mall to see if I could pick up a cute white t-shirt in one of the "teenage" stores (not that I'm a teenager, but just wanted something cute and not too pricey). I was a little afraid of being overrun with teens just hanging out (because that used to be the case on a Friday night, lol)! But Wow! How things have changed! No kids hanging out at all.... AND almost ALL of the teen stores I remembered were gone! No Forever 21 No American Eagle No Rue21 No Rainbow No Wet Seal No New York & Co... the ONLY stores left that I remembered were Old Navy, Aeropostalé (and Hollister which is a bit too pricey for what I wanted), so that left the other two. Express is still there, but never find anything there. All my old favs were replaced by weird stores I never heard of. Mexi?? What's that?!? Lol! All the clothes looked the same in these "new" stores... just cheap, brand X, polyester stuff w/ crazy patterns. The old stores may have had cheap clothes, but if you know how to shop, you could always find cute bargains. I just walked by these new stores and didn't even go in because I saw all I needed to see just walking by, lol! This has alwasy been by go to mall - not too big like Woodbridge, not as pricey as Bridgewater. I still like Macy's & Penneys. Still like Aero & Old Navy, and I did buy a couple tees. But the mall was so changed... it was a little disappointing and kinda' sad, because I remember how nice it was years ago, but I still hope it can stay open! You can't buy EVERYTHING online! It's nice to have a place to just pop in, look around and pick...
Read moreSo, the UNWANTED return of the intensely SILLY "Mask Mandate." Let's face it: it only exists, because we play along with it. Attempting to STOP transmission, while wearing a mask, is akin to installing a chain link fence, to keep mosquitoes out of your yard. IT DOES.NOT.WORK. While yes, it will stop large flem drops from flying, it does ZERO to stop the REAL "spreader," the aerosolized droplets. I saw the sign, put my SILLY, EMBARRASSING mask on, and wandered for a short while, before saying " FUG THIS, I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OXYGEN, and I LEFT the premises. As long as Brunswick Square continues this policy, I will stay away. Apparently, EVERYONE is staying away, as on a Saturday night, the lot was LESS than half-full. The Mall itself, has always been clean, not inhabited by neanderthal patrons, and usually have good stores, with GameStop, Hallmark and FYE being particularly nice, well-stocked shops. Hot Topic was always fun, but the store stock REALLY SHOCKED ME, as it was 2/3 EMPTY. The overall mood there was seriously downbeat. Interestingly, I noticed virtually NO teenage presence there! I remember that as a teen, the MALL was the place to SEE, and BE SEEN, BABY! Let's FLIRT! Let's desperately attempt to make lasting eye contact with someone CUTE, and PRAY they show mutual interest. They were FUN TIMES, as there were just SO MANY of us there on the weekend. Friends from school, the neighborhood, old flames, and on and on. That appears to be fully GONE, which is a bit sad, really. But, it's a new generation, and a new way if doing things. Hey, pretty soon, we will all be Avatars in META, and maybe hang out at the...
