Surrey Consignment Shop — Attraction in Easttown Township

Surrey consignment shop is one of those places I’ve been going to for years. I realized I had never left a review after I had been in the other day.

There are always so many cool things to look at in this place and the stock rotates a lot because things are priced to sell. Funds raised go towards the nonprofit which runs the store, Surrey Services. Surrey provides all sorts of amazing care and services to senior citizens.

The store is staffed by volunteers. So those lovely older ladies you see when you go in are ALL volunteers.

It’s a really nice experience to go in there even if you don’t find anything because the store is welcoming and so is the staff. And if you are a vintage and antique treasure hunter like me, it is an awesome spot to find something you might not have known you were looking for—— or a gift!

Some of my favorite things that I always find there is cool, vintage jewelry, and I have found a couple of my favorite straw hats there and I love vintage purses. Also rugs and furniture. Specifically chairs. I often have chair envy when I’m in there looking for stuff. Wishing I had more room but I don’t.

I would also note that consigning with them is so easy and such a pleasant experience! Things sell fast that are consigned in the store. Probably because the store is super lovely inside and easy to navigate and again another plug for the lovely people that work there!

Anyway...

I walked in this store as I just started working nearby and I wanted to see what was around the immediate area. I’m in love with consignment shops so I decided to pop in here. The person working there was busy with someone else when I stopped in. I walked around for a bit. Another woman walked in and was greeted by this lady yet the lady never stopped to greet me. She even went so far as to explain how they have a grand opening. I waited to see if she would even acknowledge me and she never did. The other woman was white and I’m a black woman. I furnished a lot of my home with the most amazing one of a kind items purchased at Surrey. I paid a decent price but it was no where near what I would have paid elsewhere.

When I decided to downsize I thought I would consign with them. I must admit I was skeptical to say the least and totally unsure of the system but in spite of my ignorance Liz directed me and explained the process.

I got my first check yesterday. I was really happy not for the money so much but the realization I was helping senior’s.
