The is is my second time to this store. Both times I barely got anything for my items. Recently I brought in a large tote bag of items with 0-12mth Ugg slippers basically brand new, some Nike onsies and an Adidas Onsie. I knew those would sell. As name brands will sell. So my expectations were low on how much I would get back, I mean it’s better than not getting any money, but still….. they bought ten of my items, I received less than $6 back. I used it to buy a Nuby Bath Spout Guard they had, as I really needed it and the price was good for $5.49.
There was a pretty nice diaper bag for $18, but eww at it having a piece of hair in it. Could easily clean the inside but I’m glad I put it back as I found a brand new diaper bag/better for $19.99 at TJ MAXX.
Once Upon A Child also had a Nuby Silicon Training Cup, I saw the price for $5.99, I’m glad I didn’t purchase that either because once again TJ Maxx (about two stores down) had it in clearance for $2.00!!
Once Upon A Child is a nice place for used baby/kids clothes and items and some new items such as accessories, but some of the prices are not good for used things, I’ve seen stains, holes etc.
It’s also an overwhelming/non relaxing experience with the lack of space in the store due to the overflowing amount of clothes and items, hard to walk down the aisles. Terrible flow going to drop off the clothes (as far space to move around with all the car seats etc in the way) and entrance.
There should be signage of where to pick up the clothes. Instead they just point to a register, then I get moved to another register.
It’s just overwhelmingly tight spaced, not stroller friendly (no space). When it’s mainly parents shopping with their babies/kids.
They should maybe realize that other stores have new clothes for similar or cheaper price (such as TJ Maxx) because today it really showed that I’m glad I didn’t buy the diaper bag and Nuby cup at Once Upon and I saved so much by getting brand new items at TJ Maxx for a way better deal.
Below are photos of the Nuby Spout Guard purchased at Once Upon, and the same Silicon Training Cup purchased for only $2, while Once Upon was selling...
Read moreORIGINAL REVIEW I stopped by this store today and stumbled upon a high chair that was in decent shape. Upon further inspection I realize it was absolutely FILTHY. I understand that this store is a gently used store, meaning it is all previously owned items and that there is a certain amount of wear to be expected. But any time myself or people I know have sold items at other Once Upon A Child locations, the staff only accept things that have been THOROUGHLY cleaned. I asked one of the managers if they could take a few dollars off because of how dirty it was and she simply stated that it was gently used and was priced for the condition it was in but that she would be happy to wipe it down for me with Clorox wipes. I told her I would appreciate it and I would purchase since she was willing to wipe it for me while I continued shopping. I went up and paid and brought my items to the car.
The high chair is a 4 in 1 and has multiple pieces that come off and what not so after bringing it to the car I had to take off all the extra parts. And to my surprise it is even more DISGUSTING than I originally thought. The tray and seat had been quickly wiped but I pull off the tray cover and there is literally crumbs EVERYWHERE I pull the seat part off and sure enough the bottom seat is also COVERED in crumbs, dried up food, and sticky with juice spilled all over it.
I cannot believe that a store with such "high standards" not only sold me this item but accepted it from the original seller in the first place. I honestly should have turned around and went to get the manager who "wiped it down" for me and brought her to show her how disgusting this chair really was but I wasn't up for more dirty looks from the staff.
How a company can sell an item that takes a customer hours to properly scrub, clean, and disinfect and claim that it was "GENTLY used" is beyond me....
UPDATED The staff at this location is fabulous. After posting my original review I spoke with Laila and my problem was rectified completely. She apologized multiple times for my previous visit and changed my experience completely. I will 100% shop at this...
Read moreI visited for the first time during their 70% off clearance sale and was so pleasantly surprised. It’s not a huge store, but it really packs a punch for the budget conscious.
I purchased several pairs of infant shoes, outfits, onesies, play suits, dresses, jumpers and swimsuits. The shoes cost 45c each, and the most expensive clothing item was $1.05 (this was after the 70% discount). Regularly priced items ranged on average from $2.50 - $4.50, with regular specials like 10 onesies for $10. All items were in excellent condition (new, or like new), with no signs of wear, no stains, many with tags still attached.
There are also many brand new in-package items such as Nûby toys, pacifiers, earrings, teethers, and many more accessories. They have ALL types of apparel with sizes range from Preemie to Youth 16/18, and footwear from Infant 0 to Youth 7 - the selection is constantly changing. They also sell toys, games, movies, books, baby gear, and furniture for incredibly affordable prices.
Don’t expect any frills - you will have to dig through over-stuffed bins labeled only by size and gender, sift through somewhat disorganized racks, and be prepared with your own shopping bags because they are not provided. But it is absolutely worth the effort! The staff are helpful, friendly, and happy to share coupons, discounts, and tips.
If you want to sell your items, the procedure was simple and quick. Just sign in to the touch-screen kiosk at the front of the store and a staff member will print a ticket to identify your items. You can opt to wait in store while your items are processed (I was 4th in line with a box of about 40 items that only took about 10 minutes), or receive a text message letting you know to come back. But make sure to bring only items in excellent condition because they will not be accepted otherwise.
Tip: Join their Rewards program for extra discounts, and pay attention to their Facebook and Instagram pages to see a list of their current “Most Wanted” items.
Highly recommend the Edison branch of Once Upon A Child and look forward...
