Only one negative, the rest is all positive. We're visiting the area and have been at about 60 Planet Fitness facilities across the United States. This one was very clean, two-story with a lot of space out area upstairs and downstairs which is nice. All the machines in the bathroom were clean. Staff were friendly the few times we visited, both during the day and at night. It was not busy on a weekend or after 6:00 p.m. on a weekday, I don't know about the busy times which is usually about 5:00 p.m. at most gyms. Good massage and tanning areas. Most people kept to themselves with their earphones in or looking at their cell phones. The only odd thing about this Planet Fitness compared to every other one was they have the trash cans with lids on top of them and the spray bottles on top of the lids, and then they place them directly underneath the paper towel dispenser. Most of the planet fitness facilities have it all as one one component, with this one when you're trying to get paper towels out at almost every single cleaning station throughout the gym, decan is directly underneath the towel dispenser and the spray bottles are almost to the bottom of the dispenser so if you're not paying attention you're definitely going to knock them over every single time. Not sure if this odd setup, but I would think that they just moved the trash cans to the left or right about two feet so you could easily get the paper towels out and then reach over and get the spray bottle and spray the paper towel. This may not seem like much but I watched a few people hit the spray bottles in the 2 hours I was there, with only one lid coming off and spilling on the floor. Just food for thought, otherwise it was a great gym, great staff, and if I lived in the area I would make this my permanent gym. I would not bring an RV or 18 wheeler into the parking...
Read moreWhat can I say, seems to be a pattern with Kendra (regional Manager at Ewardsville's planet fitness! I had been a member going on my 7th year (since it opened) and have never had any issue up until this last Saturday. Needless to say, I am pretty much a private person and don't have much of a social platform and I prefer it that way. My issue is not with the facility its more with this Regional Manager Kendra (Sierk) and a few others in the Alton center. I have been loyal member for many years with planet fitness, with that being said, I started my membership with key card, which was fine up until they said they were no longer going to use this method of signing in. So, I would just give them my phone # to verify my sign in. Wasn't a problem until they became persistent with wanting me to download their app on my personal phone. I continued to state that I didn't want to download their new app and I informed Kendra that it was never stated in my initial paperwork that I would agree to such a thing. She stated that I would no longer be able to give my # as way to enter their establishment and that if I wanted to continue being a member, I need to download the app. So, I informed Kendra (last name not wanting to give, Sierk, hence social media) that if that was the case that they could cancel my membership. Needless to say, I contacted surrounding planet fitness and have been informed that is not true and she lied to me. They also stated that many older and private individuals (like me) prefer just to give their number and that it was perfectly acceptable. So best wishes planet fitness and maybe consider sitting down with Kendra and get her squared away because by the looks of some of these reviews I don't think mine will be last involving this individual. Sincerely, another...
Read moreEven though I signed a cancellation agreement on 11/18/2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic, Planet Fitness did not cancel my membership and continues to charge my bank account. I even went in to cancel with a friend, so I have a witness and paperwork showing I cancelled. I specifically wanted to cancel my 2 active memberships. I have attempted to resolve this several times; each time Planet Fitness stated it was cancelled and I would no longer be charged. I called today and they stated they are showing both had been cancelled. Then, the atrocious, rude Club manager said that my son had 2 different memberships. They cannot produce the contract. The "club manager" Kyle Mayhew was rude and even called the Police on me for trying to cancel my membership. He says there is no contract in their computer system. I have tried to go to my bank and they tell me to work with the merchant directly. My bank had even changed hands and Planet Fitness Midwest billed anyway with no valid contract to withdraw from my account. Kyle insisted that I had to personally come to Planet Fitness today to cancel the 3rd membership which they had buried in their computer somehow. Mind you, my son did have a membership from 1/4/2016-3/3/2016-- that was cancelled. Kyle said I should have noticed 3 things being billed... ummm , no Kyle if we had 2, cancelled 1, then reinstated 1... that is 2. I have filed a BBB complaint today and will be forced to file a small claims court case for a refund, if not resolved timely. BEWARE!!! Horrible practices and unless you want to have to deal with filing multiple complaints and wasting our Police resources because the Club Manager has no customer service skills... I would avoid...
