Chicken Salad Chick — Restaurant in Edwardsville

I know this is not gonna be popular, but it tasted exactly like the food you find in a hospital canteen or high school lunchroom. And I gotta think someone else has had the same observation because there is a sign in the bathroom that reads something like they are cool with you believing your mother's chicken salad is better. Well, there is a lot of truth to that. And my mom's is much better... and my mom is a terrible cook. The food was just ok. I think people go here for the kitsch and the down home sayings onto the wall. The staff was awesome. However, being greeted by a newspaper clipping featuring Paula Deen... well, just not sure that endorsement has aged well. Look, the place is spotlessly clean and the employees were incredible, but the food wasn't nearly as special as they claim it to be. We tried the potato soup, broccoli soup, pimento cheese, chicken salad and desserts. I will try it again and update my review if the food knocks...

My daughter and I had lunch a few days ago at the Edwardsville, IL location. We order the same thing every time we go. We ate at the restaurant and purchased packaged chicken salad to take home.

We were very surprised to see that the chicken salad had large chunks of onion, pieces of outer onion skin and rubbery pieces of chicken skin in it. My stomach turned. My daughter’s as well.

This has never happened to us before. Nor should it considering the prices they charge. I’m perfectly ok paying their prices but I do expect high quality and control control when I do. We found the same problems with our prepackaged chicken salad that we took home. We threw it out.

The manager told us that she had new prep people. She would discuss with them. We were given a coupon for one free scoop of chicken salad at our next visit.

It will be a long time (if ever) that I will be interested in eating...

So I gave this place 2 stars because I was uncomfortable..... When I walked in people were looking at me I'm assuming because I'm black. I said hello everyone ,as I expected no one spoke, but I was okay with that .. but it's what happened next that made me question my meal... So the lady that rang me up was curious ,but nervous when she took m order,but when I pulled money out of my scrub she started shaking. I said mam are you okay, then she started stuttering say ,yes I'm like okay... To i sat on the bench waiting for my order all of these women who paid for their food decided to stand,. I was the only one sitting on the bench.... Racial profile is what I felt. I have never felt so unwelcome in all my life neither less to say this. I will never return and I threw my food away....... By the way, this was my first time and...
