Hatch Distilling Co. — Attraction in Egg Harbor

The distillery decor/ambiance is amazing! Lots of Edison light bulbs, dark metals, wood. Super trendy and rustic! Love their display of bottles as well.

I definitely want to get back here, especially post-COVID. We stopped here as one of our stops on the trolley tour. I can't tell if the tasting was mediocre because we were on a tour or, because of COVID, or, that's just how they do tastings. Someone showed us a video, and it just felt very impersonable there. It didn't really feel like we were wanted inside the shop. We had to grab our 2 (yes, our tasting only included 2) samples and sit outside... it was a 50 degree day with winds and rain. And, if we wanted to have an additional sample (or drink), they had a mini bar setup outside to order. And, we had to pay for additional samples. Again... I'm not sure if this is the norm or just a side effect of COVID.

With the lack luster tasting experience, I will say their spirits are solid. My friend said it was the best Gin she'd ever had. I bought a bottle of bourbon, and I'm super excited to try it at home.

I would recommend stopping here. Hands down. For a drink. I just don't think I'd recommend an official tasting tour...

Do not recommend going to Hatch Distilling Co. Service was horrible. My boyfriend and I sat down at the bar for 15 minutes until someone asked us if we wanted to order something. After ordering, we got our bloody mary's without straws. The bloody mary is full of pepper and very spicy, therefore without a straw, you could barely drink it (pepper in your teeth and lips burn from spice). In addition, the bloody mary was not completely full and included a hard boiled egg but no pickle or olives. After asking for a straw, I was told that they don't have any. There were two other people at the bar who were drinking bloody mary's and each of them had a "stir" straw (neither of them finished their drink). If Hatch is trying to not use straws for environmental purposes then why do they have stir straws? And why was I denied a straw? We felt like our server was not making eye contact when we were trying to pay. Nobody asked us how the bloody mary's were or if we needed anything. It didn't feel welcoming - it actually felt like we were...

The first time we were there we purchased vodka and it was very very good very smooth great for martinis. I liked it so well I went for a second trip which is 3+ hours away and purchased two bottles of vodka two bottles of gin and one bottle of tequila. I opened a bottle of vodka from batch 12 and it tastes like tequila. I called Labor Day and spoke with someone on the phone they stated that they’re aware of this they’ve had people calling about this and apparently it’s due to the yeast that they use in their tequila and vodka is the same. I was told they are trying to remedy it but if I want to drink tequila I’ll buy tequila I don’t want my vodka tasting like tequila.
