I came with my 78yr old parents, my daughter and son-in-law and my 6month old granddaughter. We had the spinnaker loft room and my daughter had a single room (double) with a pull out sofa. The staff was very friendly and helpful, giving us info on the happenings because it was the sidewalk sale weekend (9-26 & 9-27). The only comment about staff was that one of the ladies twice had her young son on speaker phone while guests were in the very small lobby. The biggest complaint was about the rooms. My daughter had a lower level room which had to have a dehumidifier in it running 24/7. This could not keep up with the amount of moisture because she had to empty it at 2am each morning or it would shut off. She was told that all the lower rooms had these. Their room was so narrow that when you opened the sofa sleeper it touched the wall on the other side of the livingroom. My parents and my room was just as bad. The main floor bedroom was not a double as advertised but rather a 3/4 bed and it was up against the wall on one side, the foot of the bed was up against a pocket door and the other side was against another pocket door. there was no outlet and no shelf or table. The maids had to fold the bed in half to make it. The dresser for that room was out in the LR. The toilet room was so small they cut out a notch in the door so it could close without banging into the toilet. To make matters worse there were no hooks anywhere in the bathroom or that bedroom to hang anything. The loft bedroom was ok but the railing should have been solid so you could get dressed without people in the LR seeing you. My mother wanted to go swimming and was unable to because there were no stairs leading into the pool. The stairs were notched in the wall so getting in and out was to difficult for an older person. The pool was also to small to swim in, the pics on the web are very misleading and I would think for the money they could have offered a small continental breakfast. WERE GOING BACK TO THE NEWPORT...
Read moreWe rented the Harbor Suite room with a king sized bed at about $180 a night after taxes. It was a very cramped space but served our needs well enough since we were gone the majority of the weekend. For the hefty price compared to a hotel suite at a chain, I was pretty disappointed that you don't get the basic condiments like even the cheapest hotel provides. There was no in-room coffee provided, or travel-size soaps/shampoo. All they had was a wall mounted shower watery liquid soap and one tiny conditioning shampoo to be used by two people-- that's it! Generally, I'd bring my own but for the expense I thought those would be available. There was a tiny sitting area with a TV on the wall opposite the bed and TV... Basically a useless, wasted space. They should've just had a dinette there-- would be more practical than eating at the kitchen counter bar upside the bed. Also, you can't adjust the direction of the a/c flow of air, so the person sleeping next to that had air blowing directly on them the whole time. Indoor pool and hot tub were nice. Parking was very crowded. If we stay in the area again, we would stay elsewhere The mature lady of the front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, but the younger staff were a little snippy. Overall, if you're just looking for a place to crash for the night and have plenty of money for the expense, it's ok, but really tightly packed for a leisurely...
Read moreWe stayed during Christmas week and got a nice deal of $200 per night for a 2-king, one queen loft unit with a full kitchen. The loft was pretty warm, even with the temperature kept at 67. We were wondering why they wouldnât have ever closed off the loft area to improve privacy, and after investigating the infrastructure a bit, the units were not built with proper ventilation so they never to keep it open to put a whole lot into a remodel. We were very disappointed that the pool was incredibly cold! After mentioning it multiple times to the front desk, with their response being âwe will mention it to maintenanceâ, finally on the third time the maintenance person was there, and he told me that they had to keep the pool at a low temperature because they were having humidity issues in the pool room. My advice is if you are staying there in winter and one of the reasons is because of the indoor pool you might want to ask if they have addressed the humidity issue and also find out what temperature they are keeping the pool at. It was even too cold for a kids to swim which tells you how cold it was. The building was built in 1982 and there have been some updates, but itâs still showing its age. The master bedroom door did not lock, and there was some obvious wear and tear in the rooms. Overall though, it accommodated our...
