Main Street. A nice shift towards modernization and leaving behind the “Old” El Monte while recognizing its heritage. El Monte is my hometown and hearing tales that my dad told about El Monte 80s-90s, It can be seen that El Monte has changed, thanks to EMPD and increased funding. Main Street unfortunately, is not what it used to be. The shops are dead. All except El Vaquero. Sad but it’s the truth. These shops need to go. El Monte has so many current projects going on, having all these LA Fashion District Shops with overpriced cheap clothes is a drag on the “New” and Modern El Monte.
