El Paso Public Library Irving Schwartz Branch — Attraction in El Paso

Dazzling library, detestable staff! This library is close to my house and since I'm an avid reader, this place is naturally one of my regular haunts. The well lit, open layout is complete with large tables and comfortable seats. However, the employees seem to be far too engrossed on their own tasks to assist members and even worse, they are regularly dismissive to their guests! They turn off the lights 20 minutes before close in an effort to do away with guests and expedite closing procedures. I could not even read the words on the page right in front of me! Had I been walking, I surely would've tripped. They also make no effort to silence loud guests or children who disturb other reading members. This could be an excellent library if only the employees made an effort to care about their guests, but unfortunately their sense of apathy is...

Horrible people to represent the public libraries. Went to make copies. Simple. They were supposed to close at 6. Arrived 12 minutes til 6. Was greeted as I walked in. Asked to make 3 copies. Would take less than 2 minutes. The young man behind the customer service desk advised me that they were closed. I pointed out that I had more than ten minutes and assured him I would need less than 2. He seemed annoyed and advised me again that they were closed. That's fine. Next time we will go elsewhere. Service at this location has really gone down the toilet since the year began. The young ladies running the show last year were so helpful and were always willing to go out of their way. The facility is great, there is a separate kids room that's very helpful to keep the noise level down, a computer room all very open. As nice as it is I avoid this library as much as possible. It's only a few blocks away from me but I purposely drive to a different branch. The staff is absolutely horrible. I have only interacted with one staff member that was helpful. Everyone there sits around on their phones or talking. They completely dismiss every one there. Over requested books online that are at the branch and it's taken DAYS for them to be...
