Chauncey's Pawn & Gun — Attraction in Elizabeth City

I went in against my better judgement. I have heard horror stories about this place. They had a gun I wanted so I gave them a shot. Customer service is horrible, well, at the gun counter anyways. The guy with a beard was talking to a couple telling them how Chauncey's sells 2.4 million guns a year, lol. Then the couple was asking a straight forward question about what comes with a particular gun they were going to purchase. Beard guy was blowing them off till he said "are you definitely going to buy", then actually tried to help them after they said yes. Spewing all kinds of bad sales pitches. They leave. I ask to see the gun I wanted to buy, WITH MONEY IN POCKET TO PURCHASE SAID GUN. Beard guy pulls it out I start looking it over. The gun had blemishes in the finish, I point it out and he says it is a dark spot, ok buddy, looks like they tried to spot reblue a scratch. I asked if they had anymore I could see because I wanted to buy one. He starts telling me some bull$hi* about how they have not got any of this gun in since Christmas, and how he would have to go look through 4 storage rooms to find one, probably had to sort through the millions of guns in the back. Dude comes back with a completely different gun than I was looking at. Needles to say they lost a sale, customer, and gained another person telling the community to avoid at all costs. Save your time and money people. And just the final word for people looking at firearms, they try to talk to you like you have never seen or heard of any gun and tell you how they bought the same gun for hundreds more than their price they have on it. OWNERSHIP YOU NEED NEW SALESPEOPLE AT YOUR STORE WITH A SENSE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Customer service is lacking. Staff is not knowledgeable about what they have in front of them and low ball offers every time. Most have zero clue what they are doing and simply refer to E bay or the web to try and guess what they may offer. When a $3K saxophone walks in the door and a staff member says they wouldn't be interested in it simply because its needs to be repadded and corked ($50 to $250 investment) they truly are in the wrong business. When they offer $100.00 for a $1500.00 saxophone with a resale value of $500 to $700 plus used yea not the place for me. The lady was rude and simply had no idea about musical instruments. Her reasoning as well is it wasn't band season..... lol band season doesn't end and playing music never ends so no. Staff is rude and clueless. I have gone in a few times due to it being one of the only places available in EC for reeds and supplies. They charge way more than any other store I have to travel to and online so this pawn shop is a nope for me. Not only that the locations appearance is trashy, makes me feel as though I should carry my firearm when visiting.

There's another shop right around the corner and they truly are amazing just don't carry the supplies I need for my kids musical needs however they carry everything else. So that is my go to from now on for my guns, supplies...

This is the worst pawn shop in Elizabeth city. I called beforehand to see if they took turn tables because I was trying to get rid of my old dj studio equipment. The lady over the phone said yes they buy stuff like that. I drove over 20 minutes to the store just for the rude lady behind the counter to tell me “no we dont take those”. Okay I let that slide. I also brought with me 3 brand new ps5 games they had never been opened, they were still in the plastic. The lady then tells me she can give me 5$ for all three games. Chaunceys is a rip off, this isn’t my first time coming here but it definitely my last. Every time they always try to take advantage of the fact that people are down on hard times and need some help so they severely low ball you. Low ball isn’t even the word they damn near try to get your items for free. DON’T EVER COME HERE. These people are rude and all they wanna do is scam you out of your items. Go to the other pawn shop across town, Chauncey’s deserves to be out of business. This business is trash and a waste of time. I’d give them negative 5 stars if I could. I hope you guys go out of business please...
