Cinemark should be ashamed of building such a shoddy theater in Elizabethtown, a small community that serves as an economic hub for a considerable rural area. This is the biggest theater in the region and Cinemark is clearly exploiting the fact that here isn't any competition. In other words, they don't care about the audience or the community where they occupy a huge piece of realestate. The building looks good. The staff are lovely. But, Cinemark cut every possible corner building this theater. The sounds system is meh. No dynamic surround. Just loud. There's more rumble than I can get at home, but not enough for the price of admission. The walls are paper thin. I've seen several films at Crown and I've heard the music and sound effects from an adjacent viewing room every time. These are not faint noises. These sounds are loud and distracting. Right in the middle of dramatic moment, some fight scene or dance number comes blasting through the walls. Its like being in tenament housing. The placement of seats is painfully outdated. Depending on the theater you're in, the seats are often just bolted to a sloped floor rather than on a stepped incline, which is the current fashion. Several of the theaters are too small for the number of chairs, making the front 2 rows all but completely unuseable. And, the quality of the recliners is subpar compared to theaters built/remodelded in recent years in more urban areas. Chairs at Crown Point are recliners, but they are small, and they wobble as if wearing out, despite being relatively new. When I have time and the resources, I drive to Lousiville, where most of the theaters are significantly nicer--every seat is a good seat, the sound is immerisve, and the walls block external noise. I only go to Crown if it is a spur of the moment movie outing for a film I don't expect to...
Read moreI got there about an hour early and went ahead and got my snacks and drinks. The ticket guy said I'd have to wait until a bit closer time when the movie starts which is understandable. But nope, all seats in the concession area were gone. So I stood there for a minute contemplating what to do and then another guy told me I'm not allowed to stand around too long. I guess I get that with the covid stuff but literally no one else was there. So I went outside for a bit and then eventually waited in my car. That whole experience was a huge inconvenience and kind of tainted the movie experience in general. The seats were comfortable and the movie was great. It's just that situation that happened that made it a not so great experience for me. Sure, I get standards taken for safety but it felt more like an aggressive demand more than a polite request, based on how they decided to voice it. I'll probably go back again and just wait until closer to time but this particular experience was not so pleasant.
Edit: 11/25/2020 I'm changing to 5 because I went here again for a movie and everything was fine except the fact that I realized I locked my keys in my car. But I waited until my movie was over then I asked one of the staff for a wire hanger to hopefully get my car unlocked. They gave me one and I went outside to work on getting my car unlocked. Soon after I started, one of the staff came out and helped me and actually ended up getting it unlocked himself. I wasn't paying attention to any name tag and I didn't ask for a name but thank you to the staff working between 11:00pm-11:30pm on 11/25/2020 for assisting me. They definitely went above and beyond to help me out and I truly appreciate...
Read moreWent there with several friends & found the place to be clean & neat. The staff was helpful and friendly, but the Mask Thing..... "Too Much"! (2 years ago, if we looked @ China, we would see everyone in Masks..... Now WE... Look like Them!!) Sad but True! "Made In China"??🤔 We Almost walked out! If someone Wants to wear a mask... Go For It!... If not, let um be. It's Supposed to be a FREE Country!! Hmmm...🤔 Maybe Not as "Free" as we'd like to Think! 🤔🤔😒 Anyway..... I gave "5 Stars" because I'm Hoping that the Owners/Managers are only "Obeying" because they "HAVE TO" & not because they are just "Following Blindly" the crowd. I'd like to believe that Owners of business are Free Enough & Wise Enough to make up their own minds about their own businesses. Like I said, we brought a small group & quickly spent between $65 - $85, (not everyone was able to come), & were the only ones in the room, except 1 couple. (No one wearing a mask & trying to eat). We did have to ask that the sound be turned down from the theater next door, because we kept hearing the sound effects from their movie. (Very distracting). Again, I gave "5 Stars" because I know how Hard it is to Recoup from 1 to 3 stars & overall, we enjoyed our time together. And that's why people go "Out to the Movies", Right!??🙂 (Free Advice: IF you can... Lighten Up on the Mask Thing! Some of my friends were ready to Bolt & just go & Rent a Movie!)😱😞 We're hoping to be back soon, but I would have to Literally talk some of them into it, if the Mask Thing doesn't change.😒 Just something to think...
