Heading home from TN after watching the total solar eclipse, I missed my turn onto 31E and ended up on 31W. Big mistake, because I got tangled up in the most horrendous traffic jam in Elizabethtown, KY. A 3.5 hour drive turned into an 8 hour marathon. That was the good news. Stopping at 2B Thai turned out to be the bad news. I'm not one to totally bash a business but....... I generally could care less about ambiance or atmosphere. If the food is good, I'm good. Well, this is the worst Thai food experience ever. Now let me preface this by saying my friend and I both ordered the chicken pad-thai. I cannot critique any other dishes. It was bland and lacked any hint of spice. So, I requested something to add some flavor and heat to my dish. Well, I added enough spice so it was spicy hot. So now I have a spicy hot serving of bland chicken pad-thai. It was floating in a puddle of soupy bland funk. The bowl it was served in was strange. Perhaps to distract from the size of the serving. I guess I should be happy the serving was unusually small since it was awful. Pad-Thai is a simple Thai dish. I have tried Pad-Thai from several establishments with varying levels of flavor and spiciness. This sort of looked like pad-thai but without the egg, shallots and carrot. Nevertheless, if you prefer your pad-thai with a sweet spicy flavor, with egg and shallots and carrot, you must find another place. Ok, so the Pad-Thai was terrible. Well, the atmosphere was even worse. There was this bizarre acoustic guitar music. It sounded like someone learning to play. And, not very well. Most Thai restaurants play subtle Asian music or nothing at all. If my friend had not pointed it out, I may have not noticed. Besides, I was focused on my lackluster pad-thai. I was most disappointed. With that said, I really cannot blame 2BThai. I fell for the rave reviews. Perhaps the folks in E'Town don't know what Pad-Thai is supposed to taste like. Or, what the basic ingredients are. If anyone here gets a chance, go to Thai Garden in Georgetown or Taste of Thai in Lexington. You will be shocked. For now though, you should change your name to "Trying 2B Thai". One star is one...
Read moreLOVED every bite! You don’t want to miss enjoying this authentic food!!! Thai is some of my husband and my favorite food. We usually order some thing with coconut curry or pad Thai and some extra sides. This time I went with Pad Thai and added two eggrolls for $5. The egg rolls tasted like they were homemade probably the best eggrolls I’ve had in a very long time! The pad Thai had a generous helping of noodles and large fresh slices of well seasoned chicken (you can order a variety of different proteins). My order was placed right around 5:30 PM and with DoorDash and other delivering food option places saying 30 minutes or more. My order was ready for pick up in 5 to 10 minutes. When you walk in the door, you don’t think much of the place from the exterior, but some of those places are the best. As soon as you get inside, you will see that careful attention had been given in decorating the place and lots of people were just enjoying the authentic food and each others’ company. The owner and the waitress were extremely kind and welcoming. They had my order ready as soon as I came in. I picked it up and was back at my hotel room in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place and I look forward to bringing my husband...
Read moreFantastic place. The owners are warm and friendly, and the food delicious. The atmosphere is more upscale for the area, without being stuffy. The staff are attentive, helpful, and enthusiastic.
If you have a sweet tooth and like tea or coffee, try their Thai Tea or Thai Coffee. I don't know what they put in them, but it's phenomenal and is the perfect pairing for their delicious meals. It's sweet and spicy (not hot spicy, but spicy like you can taste whatever spices they use in the stuff they put in).
If you like calamari, try their calamari appetizer. They cook it to perfection. It's cooked to the perfect soft texture. The breading is light and airy but still crispy and golden. The sweet chili sauce they serve it with it perfectly balanced for the dish.
If you have never tried duck before, TRY THEIR DUCK. Find something with duck in it that sounds yummy and try it. Even if duck ends up not really being your thing, you'll probably like what came with it.
I guess the basic thing is, if it sounds good, try it. There isn't really anything there that isn't good. Some are sweet. Some are spicy. Some are savory. They're all really well balanced...
