This is the absolute worst gym I have EVER stepped foot in. Anyone who has ever gone to a real gym will know that. Machines are constantly broken, dumbbells are never in their designated area, and the seats of equipment are miraculously always missing. Their “renovations” somehow made the gym worse and less appealing. The building is actually falling apart and the owners are too cheap to repair! The roof was leaking for months before any sign of repairs. The building is only ever repaired when it is ABSOLUTELY in need. Children roam free and love to throw basketballs around in the weightlifting area. I’m not sure how children are even allowed in the facility when you’re supposed to be 18+ when entering the premises. The staff is RUDE and lack any customer service skills and respect. The other day, I was harassed by a ginger worker who was absent from the desk cowering in the break room…. why??? Simply because all of their employees are LAZY and lack work etiquette. Additionally, ANYBODY is allowed to enter the premises because the workers let anybody slide into the gym without a membership. I feel unsafe knowing that there are nonmembers roaming around the premises. There is only one squat rack with safety’s so good luck when coming at a busy time. The place is just dirty and grimy… every-time I leave, I instantly feel the need to wash my hands. Typically throughout the season of summer there are crickets that love to infest the downstairs lifting area! The high schoolers NEVER rerack their weights because they lack simple gym etiquette as well. The owners are sexist…the new women’s only area is microscopic and entirely consumed by leg machines, unlike the previous women’s only area. They also threw in a janky smith machine that they bought off of facebook marketplace from someone’s garage in there! By all means I would only go to this gym if I was a 14 year old boy. I also forgot to mention how expensive the membership is in itself. $40 for one individual is insane considering they don’t even clean or mop the floors!! I was heading downstairs to the weightlifting area, touched the railing and instantly got paint slathered all over the crevices of my hands due to the humidity. There was a humidifier pointing towards the direction of the railings but clearly that was ineffective. I would rate this place a -5 stars if I could. I will NEVER and I mean EVER be returning to this...

I joined Etown Swim & Fitness for the sole reason that they had daycare back in September 2019 after moving back from Florida. From the get go I had issues with the daycare and their cleanliness. I even went to management to address this issue within a week of joining. I had issues with the daycare staff in the late evening since I would find son’s arms red and tender as if someone had brusquely grabbed him. I stopped going in the evenings and started going during that afternoon. Those young women, I must say, did a wonderful job and never had issues. Hopefully they get a pay raise.

I haven’t been back (nor do I ever plan to) since March but the equipment wasn’t well maintained and some of it was rusty and felt like it would fall apart at anytime.

Once the pandemic hit, this place STILL tried to charge me $10.60. Why? They stated that they were providing live fitness classes and the track outside was kept open for gym members. First off, I cannot do LIVE classes. I have a 15 month old and no toddler is ever going to let you exercise in peace. I’m a single mom so it’s not like I can just ask my significant other to watch him. Second of all, I can stream wonderful fitness classes from YouTube using Roku FOR FREE! If I really want to walk outside I don’t want to drive all the way to this track when I can just walk out my door and exercise that way. Why would I waste gas and time driving to a track?

Anyway, I sent them a certified letter requesting an explanation in late March. It took them nearly 5 weeks to get back to me! At the end of their letter there owner stated she needed a response within 2 days? Ummmm what? It took her 4-5 weeks and she wants to put me in a bind and answer back in 48 hours! Crazy!

It’s crazy that they expect payment when they’re closed and not providing services. Once again, as a single mom during this pandemic, I think $10.60 can be used for a service or product that I am using or that my son needs!

Please join another fitness center in etown and steer clear...

TLDR: If you have no other options and must swim here, get a monthly membership. If you have a choice, go to The Y or Anderson.

I have been a member for several years, using only the pool. When you are a monopoly, there are few reasons to improve yourself, and E-town Swim and Fitness is no exception. Over the years, they have allowed parts of the pool to degrade and have not replaced old parts. This all caught up with them in December of 2022 when a very deep cold broke their pool effectively making them E-town Fitness Center. Because of the difficulty of getting new parts and the need to go through the insurance company, it took approximately 6 months for the pool to be fixed.

But don't worry! They staff let you know you could pause your membership. So you won't get your money back, but they aren't charging you for the time you're not using it. I called in January and paused my yearly account. Then I called a week later to confirm. Fast forward six months later, and, when the pool is finally fixed, I ask to unpause my account. The representative informed you cannot pause yearly accounts. So I was either lied to by two employees or, more likely, the staff they have is not properly trained by management.

I gave this place $200 for a service they did not provide. And it is my fault because it says right there in the contract. So, do yourself a favor and do not buy the yearly membership. If they do not value having a stable source of income, keep your options open. I strongly recommend the Y-Club in Louisville if you are able to go there or Anderson Pool in Fort Knox. I understand there are discounts for getting a yearly membership, but if you are out $200, how much did you really save? And, since I've been a member, the pool has been down 3 times. It happens...

🏋️‍♂️ Club One Gets An Edge: Elizabethtown's Fitness Family Joins The Club 🎯 By Nate Bryan | Hardin Local ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Elizabethtown's fitness and family-fun scene is about to get an Edge (literally). Three of the community's most familiar fitness and recreation spots along Ring Road are stepping into a bold new era together under the Club One name. The new ownership team, led by fitness entrepreneur Dustin Edge, plans to bring fresh life to the spaces locals have known for decades (combining nostalgia, community, and next-generation upgrades into one vision for 2026). Beginning January 1, 2026, E-Town Swim & Fitness Center (3026 Ring Road) will reopen as Club One East after being closed since December 2024. E Town Athletic Club (1506 Ring Road) will continue operating without interruption, rebranding as Club One West. And next door, Sky's The Limit Trampoline & Indoor Adventure Park (3024 Ring Road) (the indoor favorite for family fun) will launch a slate of major improvements, including a brand-new attraction and café expansion. Edge owns all three properties. Chad Reeves will oversee operations as general manager for Club One East and Sky's The Limit, while Kim Thomas-Hawkins, who previously owned both the fitness center and the trampoline park, remains involved as a consultant (ensuring her original community vision continues). 💪 Building the Edge Legacy Dustin Edge's path to ownership wasn't an overnight story (it was a climb that began years ago: one mop, one membership, one promotion at a time). "So I started off at Gold's Gym in Lexington whenever I first moved there for college," Edge said. "When I worked there, I got hired for cleaning crew and front desk and from there on, I pretty much just worked my way up through the different aspects of the fitness industry (from selling memberships to being an assistant manager to general manager to going over to the commercial training side and being a VP of training)." He later worked in Charlotte, managed multiple facilities, and grew into a regional operator. "Then from Gold's Gym, I ended up going here (in Elizabethtown) at E Town Athletic Club and I was over the training there," he said. "And then I ended up moving to Charlotte and we opened up a club down there. After a year or two I came back to work for Gold's Gym, which was Urban Active at the time, and I stayed in the training side for like seven years." By the time E-Town Swim & Fitness Center faced closure in 2024, Edge already had a proven playbook (and a sentimental tie to Elizabethtown's fitness landscape). 🏗️ From Shuttered to Shining Edge said he reached out immediately after hearing that the long-standing fitness center might close. "We reached out to Kim at the end of December (2024) whenever I heard, right when it was about to close," he said. "She tried to keep it close to the original and keep prices low and people employed (but sometimes you just can't do that). … So I saw an opportunity to be able to take what I knew and see if we could work it out." That phone call started what became nearly a year of work. "About last week when everything became official," Edge said. "… But with Kim being cooperative and us working together and then with my background, they were able to push it through." When he finally walked through the quiet halls, Edge said the nostalgia hit hard… Read more on Facebook link to article is on HardinLocal.com (our bio link)
