Elk Grove Village Public Library — Attraction in Elk Grove Township

I’m an avid goer to this library and usually have no issues. Unfortunately in the recent weeks, I have had rude encounters with one of the workers at the desk by the computer lab. I didn’t catch her name but she normally wears glasses. I asked for assistance using the copy machine (I know how to use a copy machine just not that one) and was met with a rude response. My ask for help seemed to bother her. As she was helping me with the copy machine she kept talking down to me like I’ve never touched a piece of technology in my life. I am not the only one that has experienced this, a few others I know have also mentioned not having pleasant experiences with that specific worker. I love this library, I really do. This library is great in that it has a lot of resources, books, movies, games, etc. But whatever happened to SILENCE at a library. Everyone is loud, on their phones or talking loudly to one another. I come to the library to study in silence & to be away from distractions, yet that is all but impossible here. Even the staff talks loudly to each other & the patrons. And practically slams the books on the selves when re-shelving them. If you want to talk on the phone or loudly to each other, go to a coffee shop, not a library. Let people who actually want to study be able to do so. Not to mention the so-called tutor that spent most of the time talking to a younger boy about...

Elk public library youth service plays a important role in my 4 yr old daughter learning module. As myself a great lover of the programs organized by Miss Dianne(story lab, Mini Mad science....) and Miss Courtney (alphabet soup....), I won't miss these programs. Other good thing about this library is that I do not belong to elk grove community, still they allow me and my kid to attend all the programs.
