Meridian Banquet & Conference Center — Attraction in Elk Grove Township

First I have to say that I have never had an event here so I am rating it as a guest of a wedding. My husband and I had a friend who had his and his wife’s wedding dinner reception here last Saturday. As far as banquet halls go, this one is actually nice. In fact, my husband and I actually toured this place in consideration of our own wedding a couple years ago. For myself, I hate banquet halls because one hall is just like the other and the food and decor are usually the same generic tasting/looking. There was nothing special about this place as a wedding guest that I have not experienced at the many other halls we’ve been to as guests. But the three stars are specifically for what happened to me at dinner. First of all, I felt the service was very slow. The time between soup and salad and dinner was just too much time. They started serving dinner at 7pm starting with soup, after the soup was finished it seemed like 20mins had passed before the salad was served and after everyone was done with the salad it was a long time that had elapsed when the main dish was served, which when I looked at my phone was around 9pm. I felt like the server who was in charge of our table was so slow and lost. Looking around I see all the other tables being given their food and ours was the only table that didn’t get our dishes. As the server is coming around asking people what they got she comes to me and asks if I got chicken, I tell her no I got steak and she proceeds to place the chicken down in the table. I tell her again, I got the steak. She says Ok and goes back to the cart and picks up steak but then proceeds to put it down on the table for another guest. Ok so I wait until she serves all the other people at my table their dish. I sit and watch as she goes back to the cart and tells the other server something. I’m thinking that they ran out of steak and have to go get more. So I’m sitting there, starving to death and 10mins pass and I still don’t have a dinner. I see the owner or banquet manager, a lady with short black hair walking by and inspecting each table. So I think to myself great! She will notice and ask me why I don’t have a dish. Nope! She just glances and doesn’t say anything and keeps walking. By this time 20 mins have passed and I’m the only idiot who doesn’t have a dinner and everyone else at the table is already half way done with their food. Every minute that passes I get hangrier until finally I get up and have to go chase down the owner to tell her that I don’t have a dinner. She immediately apologizes and goes to fetch me a steak. When she sets it down, she apologizes again but says “I noticed you not eating and your forks to the side, I just thought you didn’t want anything.” Ok so, you being the owner/manager and seeing that a guest is not eating just walks by without bothering to ask the guest why they aren’t eating and if everything was ok? I don’t know why, but I honestly felt like an idiot just sitting there while everyone else was eating. I ate that steak so fast and it wasn’t even that great. We got married at Meridian banquets on 6/25/22 and worked with Tina.

We LOVED the Meridian and everything went perfectly. From the very beginning, Tina was patient and very explanatory of the entire process. She openly discussed pricing, different package options, and answered every one of ours and our parents questions.

She was communicative throughout the planning process of the timeline and what needed to be done and always offered advice when asked. She made the process seem fun and exciting and never a hassle or stressful.

Prior to the wedding, we scheduled a tasting that we were able to bring our parents to and they made it so fun and celebratory.

The week prior to the wedding, we dropped all of our wedding items off during our final meeting. They had everything set up as asked on the day of and at the end of the night had everything we needed to take home in a box packed up for us. They didn't miss a beat on one thing. Tina was more than excited to have us pop in a few times throughout the planning process to look around the venue again, which we really appreciated!

The day of the wedding, everything went exactly as planned. Timing was spot on with no delays and Tina was there in at night as well making sure it all ran smoothly! The food was out of this world and exceptional. We had the athenian chicken and filet options with duchess potatoes and julienned vegetables. We also did the ceasar salad and chicken and rice soup. We loved every bite of both entrees and our guests raved to us about the food. We took a few of the extra entrees home and have been savoring every last bite! They were incredibly accommodating for allergies and special requests.

The room looked gorgeous and was a fairytale wedding. We loved the twinkle backdrop and the set up of the GIANT sweets table on display. We were so happy we got the largest room (room A) because of the extra room for seating and larger dance floor. It also provided 2 open bars so there was never a line at the bar!

We got married July 6, 2024. Let me explain how I am aware that it takes forever to plan a wedding and finding the best location possible. We started planning 02/2024 and between every place we had found they wanted $10,000 up front for the room only. This was not including food, and decorations were not included at all at these places we had to buy our own. However, let me tell you Meridian made it worth it! Everything in the photos you see was included in the price. For what the other venues were asking for Meridian was the best price. $18,000.00 This included decorations, the trees in the ceremony room, and our head table, the sweets table, the custom dance floor, lighting, the ceiling swag, 3 course dinner, and our wedding cake, bridal room. All of this for 72 people! They do tastings for dinner, wine, and they send you somewhere for your cake. Let me tell you that they made this process so EASY! Not only were they EXTREMELY helpful with the amount of calls I made to make changes (let me tell you it was a lot LOL) they truly made our day special! We were the only event that day so they even changed the color of the lighting on the ceiling in the hallways to match the blue for our theme. Robert did a wonderful job with our wedding, and he was there every step of the way that evening. Dinner was AMAZING! Everyone who attended is still talking about it. They really loved the food, and the vibe from the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly from start to Finnish. Now we are planning our daughters Sweet 16 party for January 2025. Cant wait!
