TLDR; The service was horrendous. The food was mediocre at best. The decor is cheap. Much better options near by.
Place was dead but it took two hours to serve 3 rolls (“AYCE” btw). The waitress somehow messed up our order multiple times when we barely ordered anything then just straight up started ignoring us.
We asked for a booth but they sat us next to door even though the place was empty. We started with 2 appetizers which came out in about 5 minutes. The waitress just plops them on the table without utensils and disappears. The first 2 rolls took about 20 minutes, so pretty slow but not the end of the world. As soon as we finished she tried to rush us out the door even though we weren’t done eating yet. She then brought half of our next order and we never got the second half. She said the system is down (place just opened btw) which i believed at first but we heard the ping sounds every time someone ordered something and immediately after our last order. The ping sound was annoying too. We stopped ordering off the ipad. We had to call her over and she literally took forever to come then she brought us the wrong roll after we ordered, we only ordered 1 btw and it took 45 minutes. Called her over again and she started giving me attitude even though i was so polite and patient. Then she just straight up ignored us but I can see her just standing around not doing anything. We did get many refills of toilet water though. I could’ve ate more but i was just so frustrated that we left. I literally never leave bad reviews but what a waste of 2 hours. Of course when the tip screen came up she switches up and starts acting apologetic. Please save your fake pleasantries. I honestly think this place pays for good reviews and this one of the only real ones on here. Go somewhere...
Read moreWe visited Sushi Edo for their soft opening. Since they just opened on Wednesday, staff is still learning the ropes, but they are nonetheless friendly and attentive.
Speaking of ropes, decorative ropes hang throughout the restaurant. A faux cherry blossom tree adorns the corner. Rounding out the decor, a large projector displays various scenes on the wall. Sort of like a big screensaver.
The music they were playing was maybe too trendy for me. I did not like it. But that's possibly just a me problem.
We were able to order our food from a touchscreen tablet at the table. We opted to order from the regular menu, instead of the All You Can Eat (AYCE) menu. There are some things on the regular menu (like the Ahi Tuna appetizer) that you can't get on the AYCE menu. Just FYI.
The food came out fast, and was big on presentation. Each dish seemed to be accompanied by some sort of visual gimmick. In our case, the sushi was served atop a bridge-shaped tray alongside a smoking glass of dry ice. It felt like getting a surprise with every order. Made me think of a gachapon machine.
While big on style, in a blind taste test, I'd probably rather eat sushi from a different restaurant. It wasn't bad, per se, and it wasn't overloaded with rice (in typical AYCE fashion), but the cuts of fish just seemed "okay." I'm not sure if it was the freshness, the cut, how it was thawed, or what. Unfortunately, there always seems to be a tradeoff between quality and quantity at AYCE restaurants, and there doesn't seem to be an exception here. Although this is a soft opening, usually it is the service that improves, and not so much the quality of ingredients. But time will tell. For now, at least the...
Read moreThe first time we tried the food, we ordered carry out. The food was so good, we decided to bring our family with us for our traditional sushi night because the atmosphere looked really nice. We had a group of 7. What we didn’t like was the way we experienced ordering. They had to give a tutorial on how to order off of a tablet. It was stressful because everyone was caught off guard about the way we had to order. So finally we asked if we could just order from the server. Some of us ordered drinks and appetizers ourselves with the tablet first. It took a long time to get drinks and a pot of tea. We asked for an extra cup, which took them forever to give us another cup. When the server took our order, one side of the table ordered first and they were the last to get their food. One appetizer never came out , until we asked for it when our rolls came. First, they brought out a big tray of rolls, not what we ordered, which we told them after the tray was quickly dropped off at our table. I don’t want to bad mouth the place, but when I go out to eat, I expect to be waited on, instead of handed a tablet to self order. I would order carry out again but will not dine in. It’s a shame because it is very good food and very nice inside, but the way they serve should be changed.I definitely wouldn’t come...
