Yes, however the hours listed online for the park are in contradiction with local authorities. The sign at the park designates that it is open from "Dawn until Dusk" however local police will ask you to vacate the park after dark. This discrepancy is concerning, and I believe we should request adequate lighting so the park can be used similarly to the city park across from Gilmer High where the rodeo/fairgrounds/baseball fields are, as that park is open untl 11PM. If the police have time to stop by and ask us to leave after dark (6 or 7PM in the winter months), they surely have time to stop by and ensure our safety if adequate lamps and nighttime lighting is added to the park. Also, this park would greatly benefit partitioning a small space off for a dog park comparable to Blue Ridge's "Haven off the Leash" as many constituents use this space to walk their dogs, and many would benefit from a space where their dogs can safely exercise and...
Read moreHonestly, I would probably give it 5 stars if there was more shade, but they do have a bottle filler and water for the poches. I try to stay our of the sun as best I can, but don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful park. A nice wide open space with 2 picnic tables. One of which is very shaded and secluded like. It would be a nice place for a picnic date. There's flat walks of varied lengths and the wild flower garden is amazing even though there weren't a lot of flowers blooming today. There's a couple of benches for zen and seclusion if it's cooler. Clean restrooms and lots of parking.
Changed my review to 5 stars. We really did enjoy the park a lot and decided to come back on day 2 to get our daily walk in. And I realized it's a nice place for female runners who may be along. It's very wide open so there's not a lot of places for someone to hide, but regardless, it's hard to sneak up on...
Read moreEnjoyed the Free snowcones provided by The Orchard Church of Ellijay GA and the Fireworks show put on by the city for Independence Day. They just need more parking and more things for families to do. They only have a walking path and port o potties. They need some picnic tables and maybe a playground or some swing sets . I have lived in Ellijay for 5 years and never knew this "park" was here. I have 3 grandchildren that I watch occasionally or come to visit occasionally and they would love this place if there were a playground and kid thi gs to do. I bet it's a great place...
