This is a place we love to come to and eat, We ordered Bao buns, with the exception of the pork, due to them being out of stock for the evening so they included chicken, the chicken was very much dry and cold. We found ourselves eating more vegetables than meat. I never had a bad experience with the shack but this is not good business. We ordered the bao buns and two bubble teas, we were able to eat the entire appetizer before we received our drinks. Which I can understand restaurant workers do get busy but we were one of the few handful of people in the restaurant. We decided to get Birria ramen as well since we both are avid Birria enthusiasts, but with that note we shared and we planned to enjoy it. With that being said there were little to no noodles in the bowl and no resemblance to birria. The noodles were very clumpy and not cooked as much as they should’ve. So by the time i had ordered my share of the food and my girlfriend ordered our food we then got our drinks. We finished our meals and we left, unhappily. To furthermore add, with our bubble teas, i noticed after we left i had some sort of paper like material in the cup. At first thought I assumed it was just from the wrapper but then we realized that it couldn’t have been since they were in plastic. I normally don’t write negative reviews on places but this is unreal. It was not worth $46...
Read moreI should preface this review by stating that I have no food allergies or health conditions that require a special diet. I simply like good food and appreciate good service. I first became acquainted with The Shack via their food truck at one of the local wineries. The Asian-fusion type food they serve is not my typical meal, but I enjoyed the meal and interaction with the staff. Yesterday, my wife and I visited the downtown restaurant for the first time. We were warmly greeted and the owner was very helpful explaining the menu and offering off menu suggestions. We ordered spring rolls, spicy tuna bowl and chicken noodle curry soup. The food was delicious and we felt well fed without feeling overly full. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. We will make the Shack a routine spot especially since they are one of the few downtown restaurants open on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Plus, their food is a nice change from typical restaurant fare and is...
Read moreCeliac, gluten free and Food Allergen Safe. Not enough stars to feature this restaurant. The staff is as friendly as they come. The food is outstanding, flavorful and amazing portions. Not only that, the owner and the staff are extremely knowledgeable about allergens, cross-contamination and all of the food they offer to ensure all of their customers have a wonderful and safe eating experience.
I had the Shrimp Spring Roll and Beef Pho. As a celiac, I felt like I was eating out like I used to and actually used my finger to swipe up the remaining sauce that was on my plate. No shame.
Absolutely outstanding on so many levels. I am so thankful we came across this location. If you're in the Blue Ridge/ Ellijay area, don't miss this stop.
PS. The owner mentioned that she goes through 2-3 weeks of food allergen training with her staff each year to ensure safety. Seriously. what a...
