This was a true treasure of a find in the quaint downtown Ellijay. My friends and I wanted to stop for a coffee and the trip completely changed when we stopped here, in such a good way.
Mountain Town Coffee, or sometimes called the Ellijay CoffeeHouse, has a great vibe. Thereās a back entrance and courtyard which we came through. The decoration is wacky- I donāt know how else to describe it. Itās old school and nostalgic but strange.
On the other side of the wall thereās an entire book store that is part of the business. It had one of the most impressive collections Iāve seen in a bookstore in awhile. It wasnāt huge but it had a great variety of genres, and a lot of intriguing titles I hadnāt heard of but sought to remember for later.
The man working the register was a charm- he told us how Ellijay has their own tv production (which they were playing on an old school tv), a special Bigfoot podcast and more.
Lastly, the coffee was, of course, delightful. I had a latte with a little bit of spice in it that was perfect to warm a person up in the cool early spring air when we were there. Had we known this would be such a cool stop I think we would have bargained even more time to just hang and enjoy the atmosphere. I think it could be a good place to sit and do work or read and thereās lots of spaces to sit so itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe baristas here are amazing. The owners manage this place extremely poorly however. While the coffee is delicious and the help is awesome, this is my local coffee shop and as someone who loves coffee and goes to as many coffee shops as I can, a competitor could easily do a much better job managing this business. They do not help their baristas out at all even when they are in the store and should be noticing when their staff gets slammed. They only have one person on the line in the summer to take food and drink orders, make/prep the food, and check people out. There are days I come in and wait 20+ minutes for an iced latte simply because one group came in before me. Itās just not a job for one person during the busier months of the year. If your locals are waiting 30 minutes to get their coffee on a busy morning, help your barista for 10 minutes so they can focus just on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalked in and walked out. The food from the old Ellijay Coffee house made this place wonderful. Now itās just coffee and tea out of 1 little window in the corner. The space does look better, but without the food not interested. The simple avocado toast was delish and a perfect bite with coffee. The menu is boring. Very disappointing. Canāt rate because the new owners donāt sell food! We didnāt want to have just coffee or tea. I took friends this day and was shocked about the changes. I couldnāt believe no food, a little closet sized place to order, and boring coffee and tea sign. That hippy, cool, mountain vibe gone. :( itās really big thumbs down for downtown Ellijay this change. The Original Ellijay Coffee House was bomb! Itās gone everyone. Iām sure you will see a big decline in business. You have to offer a food menu like before that had organic and...
