Ate here this afternoon, finally! Took more than an hour for a to go order. The party of 5 before us were served and left the restaurant before we got our pizza and Greek salad. Unfortunately, that was all because there is nothing except salad for those of us with celiacs disease. I was ok with that because I just wanted my husband to have a good pizza. We were treated so rudely when we had the audacity to even ask about our order. Two servers told my husband they would check on it and he watched as they just went about their business and never checked a thing. I stepped outside because the waiting area was crowded. When an outside table became available I sat down with our drinks. In about 10 minutes I was asked if I was eating at that restaurant. I assured the server I was waiting on my husband who was inside waiting on the food. She said she would check. I told her it had been almost an hr. so far. She returned with her finger pointing at her watch and said angrily, it’s only been thirty minutes! I checked the computer. I told her I wasn’t sure when it was entered in the computer but we have been waiting an hr. Then she said loudly as she walked away 30 MINUTES! Well I’m super embarrassed. The lady at the next table said that girl just called you out as a liar Within 10 minutes another server came and placed a salad in front of me, I asked about my husband and his pizza and received no answer. I waited a few minutes then opened the door to tell my husband the salad was there and if he had heard anything about his pizza. At this point the second server pushed past me with a pizza and sat it on the table without a word. We assumed it was his. I don’t really know how the food was because of being so upset. We waited for a check, it never came so my husband stepped back inside and the first server with check in hand said, this is yours! He paid and returned to me. A server was there and I told her there had been no reason for them to be rude to us ,all we had done is inquire about our to go meal , which NEVER came as a to go order. We just felt like we had imposed on a private party or something. Needless to say, there are to many good and inviting restaurants in Ellijay to ever be treated like this again! We...
Read moreI'm so sad to have to write this review b/c we love to support our fellow small town residents/business owners. The food was good, the service was awful. From the start the bartender was clearly annoyed that we were there - no smile, no "hi my name is...", no engagement or personality of any kind. Oysters Rockefeller came out but we had no silverware or napkins. Once we got silverware to try them, they were good - average or slightly above. Hubby's pizza came out 5 min before mine and when mine arrived it was burned - wholly blackened on the bottom. Bartender was nowhere to be found so we asked a waitress who said it's 'Neapolitan style' but she'd check with the kitchen. She came back and said they'd remake it, great. Bartender returned & asked how everything was, hubby said pizza was burned. She said "ok, hmm"; that's it, no 'oh sorry about that' or 'I'm sure it won't take long to remake' - nothing. Bartender never checked in again to ask if the remade pizza was ok, if we needed another drink (we did) - nothing. The remade pizza was very good - the pork was scarce, but the taste was quite good. Sadly, however, the overall terrible service experience far outweighs the good taste of the pizza. We love our small town environment and go out of our way to support local small businesses, so experiences like this are disappointing. We can make a pizza at home or order delivery for far less than the $100 we spent for the 'going out experience', but we enjoy interacting with and supporting local business. It's so easy to just be kind, friendly, and at least pretend to give a sh*t about the people in your community, especially those supporting small business. Thankfully there are other options in our awesome small town of Ellijay where folks care about contributing to positive, pleasant engagements with their fellow small town community members; I'm sad that Ellijay Wood Fired Pizza is no...
Read moreMy wife and son have been coming to Ellijay for a few years now. We love this sleepy little town nestled in the Blue ridge Mtns. We tried going to the Ellijay Wood fire Pizza on the 4th but it was WAY too busy to get a table. After speaking to some locals who told us we need to go, we made it there the following day. All I can say is, Thank you locals! This place will NOT disappoint. We started with the watermelon salad. That's right watermelon salad. It has fresh watermelon, mint, red onion, feta cheese, and black olives. I was very intrigued at such a combo. It was with out a doubt the most delicious salad I have ever had. My wife also loved it as she got one too. We obviously then ordered the pizza, "Margherita pizza and Plain Cheese. Pizza is not too exciting normally, except when you have a chef, "Sandy Madewell" at the helm. These woodfired pizzas were absolutely incredible. Perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients. The dough, the ingredients all far better than we would have expected. To top it all off we go to me Sandy the executive chef. What an absolute pleasure. Oddly we lived near each other in Nashville TN, and knew mutual people. She was incredibly kind to explain here menu, the restaurant concept and even brought me a sample on their in house brewed beer. Experiences like these don't happen often. But when they do it's a pleasure to meet the people behind the scenes. So Sandy and Staff " who by the way were also incredibly kind and knowledgeable", thank you for making our last night in Ellijay so wonderful. We will be back very soon.
