We got there and informed the hostess we had a party of 9 and she said it would take about 30 minutes, so I said it would be fine if they sat us at two separate tables if that would be quicker and the hostess, said no, it would be the same amount of time. So then I asked her how long and she shushed me with her finger and asked me what my name was. So very rude. As this exchange was going on, several tables were leaving and she said it would still be 30 minutes. Then she walked away and another woman, maybe the manager walked over and another table left and she said that we would be seated right away. I told her the other hostess was rude and she said she would definitely take care of us. And, boy did she ever. She put two tables together and we sat down and then we waited for a very long time for a waitress. Another large group came in and they were seated and then attended to and served before us. Once our food finally came, it was cold and it was clear the food had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. The buns were hard and the burgers were burnt. The waitress was nice, but it seemed like the whole restaurant was in cahoots. Now, we wait to see if we get food poisoning. We have honestly, never been treated like this in a restaurant before. And, we are nice people and we eat out a lot. The WORST FREEZER BURNT FOOD EVER. So sad an establishment would treat paying customers this way. I only wish I had taken pictures of our...

It is really hard to support local businesses when you are treated like this.. Menu board states you will receive a 3.5% discount for paying with cash. Wrong. What will happen is you will not be charged the 3.5% fee for using a card, if you pay with cash. I hardly consider this a "discount". Regardless, what is NOT stated on the menu board (or Cantaberry's website, for that matter) is that you will be charged a 20% gratuity for to go orders containing 4 meals (or 5, staff wasn't sure) After explaining that this policy is nowhere on the site or menu, we were informed that it is stated on the bottom of your receipt. What good is that? Then we were told To Go orders are more difficult than dine in customers, and people tend to not tip. The bogus new policy is not the staff's fault and we were not rude about it.. but to say To Go orders are more difficult is a blatant lie. FOH manager ended up taking the fee off, and $70 later, we were off with our 4 chicken salad sandwiches, a burger, and lots of dirty looks. Chicken salad was as good as always, but there wasn't as much on the sandwich as there use to be. Burgers were pre frozen patties. Chips we received with sandwiches were small bags of Lays. ("Simple, HOMEMADE..good")

Like I said.. really hard to support local businesses when you're being swindled. Probably won't be back, but I doubt they mind. The tourists will continue to take...

Celebrating my sweet mama’s birthday in Ellijay and stopped for lunch in one of our favorite spots. If you’re in the area, I’d highly recommend you stop in for a bite, dessert or both! They have a menu that is packed with so many tasty options that we all made a pact to order the same dish so no one had food envy. We went with the pimento cheese burger and fries and guys this isn’t your ordinary pimento cheese burger - it’s two, yes two 4oz patties covered in smoked gouda, tomato, arugula and creamy pimento cheese. And if your mouth isn’t watering yet there are several sides available but I went with the traditional fries which were fried crisp but didn’t come out greasy. And since we were celebrating, we ordered a slab of German chocolate cake to take home. And don’t fret there are plenty of healthy options that are just as tasty. I don’t want to close out the review without pointing out that the do have a covered patio area that can be enclosed and heated if needed and they do offer wine and beer. Highly recommend - 10/10 - that you stop in and enjoy a meal in the scenic...

We decided to stop here for lunch while enjoying our weekend getaway in Ellijay. Great location on the downtown circle. We were seated immediately and chose to eat on the enclosed porch area. It was cold outside this day, and sat near the edge of the porch. It was a bit drafty, but still a nice table. The enclosure made the acoustics a bit loud on the outside deck. The service was good. Our server told us the soup and special of the day, and made a few recommendations. I can't recall her name, but do remember that she was left-handed (so am I). I ordered the potato soup and grilled cheese with bacon on a crossaint roll. The soup was a bit grainy, but had a nice thickness and flavor. I do not recommend getting the grilled cheese on crossaint rolls. They invert the bread and grill it. Just didn't work for me. Further, I expected more cheese for a three-cheese sandwich than what I got. It's not bad, but I think it was more of something that was not to my taste than anything else. I am definitely not afraid to give this place another try!

Flavorful, fresh, delicious. This family run restaurant is a gem in historical downtown Ellijay. We enjoyed a lovely casual dinner with family and friends at 5:30p over the holidays. They were busy…but oh so worth the wait! We were kindly greeted by our super sweet server, Monica. She let us know right away it would likely be a little wait but guaranteed the food is home-cooked to perfection and boy was she right! We had chicken fried steak that was tender and the perfect amount of crispy. The best collards ever - slightly sweet with a little kick! Tomato basil soup - creamy and so full of flavor. The Cuban was excellent and the salads are fresh with just the right amount of garnish. Portions are filling and reasonably priced for the area. Highly recommend ordering a bottle of wine and an appetizer if they’re busy. Beautiful selection of cakes in the dessert case! We’ll be back again for sure.
