Nice park. beautiful. Huge cottonwood trees. But it closed the restrooms. Spoke to a worker there, it's trying to see if human waste will make it greener. It has a nice couple ponds, but they are drained for winter. Wishing well, large green areas, playgrounds for children. Also a nice skate park. Oh, also a fitness area, along Eastman Ave, with no moving parts. You need to see it to understand it. It's awesome, and can be very very tough. Nice parkings available, handicapped accessible. Couple nice picnic pavilion areas, complete with electric, but a nasty pest is causing issues with using power,. They seem to thrive in that power. So, lastly, a type of local gestapo . A twisted clown rides around in a green kawasaki-off road jeep thing. 0h they are quite entertaining but beware. They are actual guardians of the Law. And their goal is to meet you into the local system providing life long income to Englewood. So enjoy the park, but beware the evil troll gestapo. Unless you live there forevermore. But trolls rarely there, extinction to homeless is it's goal. And actually, as city council (highest power in the land, shame they are so high, or greedy).) Decrees bounties in them. 9 of 10 are gone . Hope you'll visit and see this park before it's gone, donated to RTD for expensive apartments, and gifted income to RTD. Taxpayers don't need money. City council and RTD decree.. Bring a lunch, ride bikes, play basketball, workout, evade a WWII live clown, enjoy it while you can....
Read moreThere are so many things we love about Cushing Park. The lake, the trees, the skatepark, the playground. My personal favorite is the entry at the north side. It feels special to walk through.
Update: We've been living here for years now and Google suggested I update my review. When the kids were little we enjoyed the playground. Now they enjoy throwing Frisbees in the open green spaces. The new skatepark looks great but my kids don't skate. I do see others having a great time.
I vastly prefer the new, open, picnic space. The old one was creepy and made the playground feel unsafe. I wish they'd changed it years ago but I'm glad they have now!
My brother lived here with me for years but is in college now but he really appreciates the new exercise area they put it. It could use some shade... My son is going to the rec center until the weather cools off but then he'll be giving it a try too.
I personally like bringing a camp chair and sitting and knitting in the shade while my busy family is running around. 😊 I think this is the best park in Englewood!
Twenty years ago, I looked Wash Park in Denver better but now it's so overcrowded that it's not fun. Cushing has enough people coming and going to feel alive and safe but not enough that it feels crowded. I can sit and feel alone if I want or...
Read moreI would stay away from Cushing Park if I were you. I took my grand daughter there a few months ago and while she was playing on the swings I saw an obviously mentally disabled man go to the play ground and take a piss right there.Of course we were horrified and left immediately. In the parking lot was the van that had transported him and a group of disabled people to the park with 2 women inside. I went to the van and asked if they were supposed to be in charge of the disabled people. They were, but they were in the van completely ignoring the situation. I told them what had happened and they got out and went to the group they were supposedly watching. We left, never to return. It was...
