Visited CZEN for date night on a Saturday night and it was amazinggggg!
They have valet parking right in front or you can park on the street or in a public lot right across from the restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I received excellent service. Our waitress, Amaya, was AMAZING!
They started us off with complimentary chips and dip, I believe I saw some plantain chips in there. They were tasty and packed with a bit of spice. For drinks, I decided on a regular margarita and our waitress suggested the Scotch Bonet Mango Margarita which my bf loved! For apps, I HAD to order the fried shrimp bao buns which were filled with mango habanero fried shrimp...SO GOOD. My bf LOVED the CZEN egg rolls which was filled with jerk chicken, rice and peas. I mean, they built our expectations up for the entree with the way our drinks and apps were tasting.
Were our expectations met? YES THEY WERE. We both ordered the five-spice glazed salmon served with garlic mash potatoes and mixed vegetables. Ugh, the orange Thai chili sauce on top was amazing.
There was a minor hiccup where we received the Thai red snapper by accident. I noticed that the restaurant menu has a "Thai red snapper" and a "Thai glazed salmon." But on the website, the menu says "Thai red snapper" and "Five-spice glazed salmon." So she stated once she heard the word "Thai" as we were ordering, she immediately thought of the snapper. It makes total sense now that I read the website menu. When we told her we received the incorrect dish, she immediately sent it back and ordered us the salmon. We also received a drink on the house so I was able to try the rum punch which brought me right back to Jamaica! My bf and I were having such a good time we didn't even care about the dish mix up, I was lowkey happy to chill there a bit longer haha.
Amaya really made our experience a 10/10 plus the food it was just such a great time. You can tell she cares about the customer and loves to personalize the experience. She even told us about happy hour which I definitely need to come back for. At the end, we were able to pay by scanning the QR code on the receipt or you can pay with the waiter/waitress.
Can't wait to come back here, wish I lived closer UGH! Thanks CZEN for a...
Read moreLocated near Bergen Pac theater where Biddey O'Malleys was, same layout. Lovely decor, bar area is very inviting however, lighting in the back are is too dull, it needs a little bit more brightening. The drinks and appetizers are both delicious. Enjoyed Bang Bang cauliflower and mango habanero wings but was disappointed it was not spicy. My favorite app was the Yumi corn and crab chowder, it was a big serving for an app, was hearty and very delicious. The Oxtail Czen roll was not a good fusion combination, oxtail was cold and did not make for an appeasing flavor combination. Honey butter garlic shrimp was delicious, but like its name was a tad bit too sweet for my palette. Saki braised oxtail was least favorite, tasted like sauce was burnt and did not enjoy it pared with Udon noodles. Berry Jerk short rib was good but the side vegetables of broccoli, carrots were overcooked and bland, no seasoning on them. Thailand escovitch fish was okay, fish was a little smaller in size than I anticipated and the escovitch veggies had an overpowering vinegar taste. I've had escovitch fish many times before, cooked it myself and typically the veggies just blend with vinegar, here there was a little too much vinegar. Overall I thought there were creative with the flavor combinations, very good presentations however, some of the flavor combos did not blend, taste well and it was a bit pricey for the quality. I did enjoy the drinks and apps more than entrees, the music was good as well. I would return but perhaps sit at bar for drinks and...
Read more6/2 - Last night, the team at CZEN redeemed themselves from my last visit a few weeks ago. The chef was on point. Everything we had was delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Oxtail dumplings, wing (Thai/Chili), and Cauliflower bang bang. I must say the return for the bang bang Cauliflower app if nothing else..so damn good!
Entrees were perfectly done. The Thai fish, ribs, oxtail, and rib eye were seasoned nicely and cooked to perfection. The drinks were amazing, per usual.
It was first Friday so they had a dj and the place was lively and the music was good.
Nessa was our server who also took care of us the first time around. She's very knowledgeable and on point with suggestions and tending to your needs.
I want to send a huge shout out to Ron, one of the owners at CZEN. I truly appreciate the time you took out to contact me and make sure we were taken care of. Wish you all the best, and we'll definitely be back.. love the vibes!
5/12 - I was excited about going to this place. But I was so disappointed in the food. We ordered several meals and only two of the dishes were good. The salmon, Escovitch fish, white rice, and mussels weren't good at all. The fish had a fishy scent..eww. The shrimp & lobster tails were overcooked, so they were rubbery. Everything was over smothered with these sauces (to thick). The drinks were amazing, though, and the service was decent....
