I don't ever write reviews but I feel I have to after reading this response by the owners:
"Response from the owner6 hours ago The person who ate the shrimp penne vodka ate everything.
The guy who ate the beef stew also ate everything and at the end of the meal said he didn’t like it.
The guy who ate the pancakes ((almost)) ate everything than said the pancakes were too “soft” (which weren’t and should have been ordered well done) and the bacon was too crispy (which also should have been ordered soft) we tried to accommodate him as best as we could (we already were making him a brand new plate) and he made a fuss.
Please do us a favor next time you want to eat for free go somewhere else."
First of all, my finishing the penne vodka and french onion soup is not indicative of my satisfaction with the food but rather with my unwillingness to throw out food and waste $15. My friend with the stew ate only the meat while the one who got pancakes ate the eggs and a bit of the pancakes and bacon. Both probably ate less than 50% of the food on their plates. There was so much oregano in my french onion soup that I couldn't taste anything else and I even said to my friends "sorry" after tasting it for making us try out this diner. In addition, only about 1/10 of the onions in the soup were actually caramelized. The other 9/10 looked and tasted like they had been thrown into the soup and boiled which, if you know basic cooking, is not how a french onion soup is made. The penne vodka was lacking in salt and flavor: you would've noticed that I added about a cup of parmesan cheese to make it palatable. There was also an abundance of oregano in my pasta and even on the garlic bread (though the bread was well-seasoned at least). Adding a ton of oregano to food does not automatically make things taste better and in this case it was completely overpowering.
There are a few problems with your response where you mention, "...than said the pancakes were too “soft” (which weren’t and should have been ordered well done) and the bacon was too crispy (which also should have been ordered soft)...". Those pancakes were soft because they were literally undercooked. You don't go into a restaurant and ask for your pancakes to be done "medium-rare" or "well-done", they are either cooked or not cooked. I could tell from opening my friend's pancake and looking at the dough on the edges that it was not cooked all the way through, notwithstanding the slimy texture when I tried a piece. Crispy bacon is one thing, but bacon so dry and hard that it crumbles into dust is another thing entirely. Again, you shouldn't need to ask for "soft" bacon to avoid getting bacon that was burnt to a crisp.
Accusing us of trying to get a free meal out of this doesn't work, either. We wouldn't order a second pancake breakfast and cancel it halfway through if we were trying to get free food. We even tipped at the end after eating probably one of the worst meals we've had this month. Thank you for trying to accommodate us by taking the pancakes off the bill but we never asked for you to do this, and you shouldn't use this against us when we raise valid complaints. Doing so is completely unprofessional.
When we first came up to you with complaints about our food, you told us that everyone else likes it and that we and the review writers online are entitled to our opinions. However, as I've pointed out, the things I mentioned aren't a matter of differences in palate but poor cooking technique which are concerns that have also been raised numerous times in previous reviews. To brush us (in person) and numerous online reviews (probably the best source of feedback in yelp and google) off in this manner shows that you can't take a single iota of criticism, and is the kind of behavior you'd expect from a child having a temper tantrum. This combined with how you see us as having "finished" all of our food shows how delusional and unprofessional you are and is the kind of attitude that will run a nice business into the ground. You have 1.5 stars on yelp,...
Read moreI have been to many diners in the area and will not be coming back to this one. One of my favorite meals to eat at a diner is a classic breakfast. I chose the lumberjack, which can be upgraded to include grits by asking for the special which is noted on the menu. The waitress didn't understand that and I only received the grits without homefries. The sausage was slightly pink in the middle and I stopped eating it after the first couple bites. The grits were not warm enough and were clumpy. I was only able to eat half of it. The bacon serving was pitiful, very small sliced and greasy. The 2 slices of ham were very thin and too sweet. The pancakes were nothing special. My wife had an omelette and homefries, which was much better than my plate of food. The coffee was good. The waitress was unattentive after bringing out or food. We were never asked for refills or how our food was until we were almost finished. Only half the tables had customers so it was not that busy. I complained to the waitress that my meal was not good. And there was no real response or action taken. I had to complain a second time when paying the bill at the counter. The cashier did not know meal was unsatisfactory. Our waitress failed to address the issue. The cashier gave me a discount and apologized, which is why I gave this place another star. In response to the owner, your girls are confused because they came to our table only when we were close to finishing our food. If that's what they told you then you have problems. Poor response from the...
Read moreThis place was ok, let me explain why. I love the vibe of the place, pricing pretty great, and customer service even alright, Hannah and Nicole was very accommodating. Place seem a bit short staff but they made it work. The reason they're ok, is due to the fact my food was alright. I order the salmon Alfredo and shrimp scampi. Which by the way I do not recommend. While my food wasn't very tasty, shrimps had a sour taste(like too much lemon or something) that's not what turned me off. When I went home I had a upset stomach, all through the night I was in pain. I shared my food with my sister's and they're stomach was hurting as well. The next day I called and spoke with Hannah (to see what she can do to compensate me, what! I was miserable through out the night!) she reassured me nothing was wrong with my food cause she personally handle it. (I'm just wondering though, did she cooked it too?) Which I really appreciate, however don't feel 10% is good enough of an compensation with all the pain I endure throughout the night. In conclusion, the place seem pretty solid my sister's enjoyed they're food, i chalked it up to just having a bad experience based off what I order, but felt like she could of compensated me better somehow. Overall seems like a pretty decent place. So, the question is, would I come back?...
