I grew up in southeastern PA, so I had no idea about Erie, the history, people, industry, etc. The Hagen History Center has all that!
Exhibits involved a lot of reading, displays had a little bit of interactivity, and I got the impression they painted a pretty rosy picture of Erie and the hard stuff (like racism).
I'm a Frank Lloyd Wright nut, and being able to walk through his actual San Francisco office was a real treat!

Read moreWe went on a Friday before a big event on Saturday that would keep the place closed to the public that day. We got right in and were allowed to explore the whole place by ourselves, including some displays on this history of Erie, the offices of Frank Lloyd Wright that were moved there from San Francisco, and the Mansion on the same campus. We appreciated that we could actually go into the rooms and see things up close. I hope they have good cameras, because we felt like we almost lived there. My late father took us to the museum there when we were kids…and I’m 73! Only the basement, 1st and 2nd floors were open back then….I had never seen the upper floors! The ballroom was amazing!
