El Paisa Mexican Food — Restaurant in Escondido

I recently visited this establishment and, while I wish I could give a glowing 5-star review due to the wonderful service provided by the young lady who took care of us, I have to share some concerns about the food and overall experience.

Firstly, the food quality was quite average, and some items seemed overpriced. For instance, I spent $103 for four people, which felt like too much for a taco shop. Let me break down our experience: The venue is relatively small, and upon entering, I noticed that the floor was greasy to the point where my chair kept sliding. Regarding the food, I ordered the carnitas plate, but what I received was just fried pork without the distinctive taste of authentic carnitas, a truly iconic Mexican dish. Additionally, the gorditas were priced at $10 each, but they tasted like plain masa without much flavor. Even if the taste had been better, $10 for a gordita seems excessive.

My uncle tried the chile verde plate and mentioned that the chile tasted acidic, which was quite disappointing. The menudo was okay, but again, nothing to write home about. On a positive note, my wife had the enchiladas and had no complaints about her meal.

While the service was excellent, the food and price did not meet our expectations. I believe there are other restaurants where we could get much better food for the same price. I hope you take this feedback into consideration and make the necessary improvements to enhance your patrons'...

I own a venue in the Temecula area. The clients that rented our space used this company for their catering. I was very impressed with the fresh pressed tortillas being hand made on site. I tasted the carne asada, al pastor, birria with their red & green salsa as well as a cheese quesadilla. Everything was delicious. We have added this company to one of our preferred taco catering companies that we will now be referring to all of our future clients. I even plan to hire them for my Jan 2023 wedding for our late night bites. That's how yummy everything was! I am a foodie and am very critical of Mexican food. El Paisa Mex is one of Escondido's most delicious and authentic Mexican restaurants. The place is super down to earth, and the staff are some of the most genuine and kind people you'll ever meet. They are super personable and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome! They have a wide variety of food on their menu, and everything I've tried from them has tasted excellent. The interior is rather small, but you can sit out on their patio most days of the year and enjoy the California sun, especially at sunset. By the way, their Horchata is to die for!! They are a great local establishment, and I highly recommend...
