Visiting the Stanley Home Museum was a highlight of my trip to Estes Park. The beautifully restored interiors of the historic home offer a fascinating look into the lives of Freelan and Flora Stanley.
While some of the furnishings being original to the Stanley’s (circa 1904),there was also an impressive collection of donated authentic antiques, including items from the 1700s! But what truly made the experience exceptional was our guide, Dave. His passion for the home, the history of the Stanleys, and their impact on the early development of Estes Park area was amazing. He shared incredible anecdotes about the Stanley’s, the home, and even abt subsequent families that lived in the home. He answered every question with detail.
Whether you’re a history buff, a fan of Colorado heritage, or just looking for something special to do in Estes Park, I can’t recommend the Stanley Home Museum enough. And if you get Dave as your guide—consider yourself lucky. You’re in...
Read moreDave was our tour guide. He was very informed and had loads of knowledge. He has been a guide for nearly a decade and loves what he does. He is a volunteer. All of the guides are. He said he couls give us as much and as little information as we wanted, we requested all of his knowledge and we were given a full 2 hour tour. We came with some knowledge of the family history. We were given history of some of the furniture, a lot of the area, family, furnishings, the home itself, the process of aquiring the estate and the land, etc. I recommend this tour to anyone who appreciates history. This history is so important to the current community and the volunteers really value what they do. Jo Ann was helpful in the gift shop. She and Dav both offered wonderful recommendations of things to do and see during our visit. Their time and attention was valued very...

If you are a history lover and would like to learn about stories that connect many dots of things you already know but had no idea the Stanley's has a lot to do with, you would enjoy the tour tremendously. Not to mention how wonderful the ladies are. My tour guide was Lynn and she is so much fun to talk to and is knowledgeable on so many levels of things on display there, which may or may not be an original Stanley's home original. But it's amazing to learn about how people worked together to preserve the history of Estes Park and made the museum possible. I truly enjoyed it and...
