If you are someone who appreciates the presentation of food, the atmosphere of the restaurant, wines by the glass, and vegetables, read on! I ate at the Wild Rose with my daughter and we both enjoyed our dishes. She was literally licking her lips over the Fettucine Alfredo, exclaiming that the grilled chicken had a smoky flavor that was delightful with the pasta sauce. I had the trout, and was impressed by how beautifully the food was arranged on the plate as well as the flavor and the balanced nutrition of the fish, quinoa, and asparagus. It is not every restaurant meal that leaves me feeling satisfied without having eaten too much salt or oil. The grilled asparagus was crisp-tender and the Sauvignon Blanc came in an elegant glass as well as complimenting the fish nicely. The service was accurate and attentive, and we enjoyed sitting at a table outdoors on the breezy walkway. The Wild Rose is definitely an experience appropriate for a date or a meal with an adult friend who has a relatively refined palate -- it's not the place to take the kids or people who are looking for the largest serving for the buck. (Update: After trying the trout at 4 of Estes Park's restaurants in the past week, Wild Rose came in second.)

The ratings for The Wild Rose are very high overall and I came to this restaurant with high expectations for a dinner for two. Unfortunately, on this night, The Wild Rose did not meet those expectations due to a number of challenges. First, they did not have a record of my reservation (confirmed through Open Table), but they were very accommodating and, sometimes, technology doesn't cooperate 100%. Next, I ordered one of their specialty dishes (Elk medallions) and it was delivered to me severely undercooked. The wait staff took the dish back to get cooked properly, but in this process, the medallions returned butterflied and, although cooked, they were tough and dry - not what is expected for this dish and I would chalk it up to cooking temperature and meat temperature at the start. I also found the accompanying sauce (berry) to very light on flavor - it did not add anything to the dish. Lastly, the wait staff were extremely polite, but did not pay attention to the details, such as refilling empty glasses or presenting the check. I opted to give 3 stars since my wife's meal was done well to her satisfaction.

Positives first: Our waiter/bartender, Shubham, was great. The baked brie appetizer was also fantastic. Drinks were very strong but good (if a bit expensive). Negatives: Wildly expensive. Got the chefs combo which was 4oz elk, 4oz bison. Very tough. Almost completely unseasoned so pretty boring flavor. Table was wobbly, so that combined with the tough meat made for a challenging meal. The potatoes au gratin were pretty good. The seasonal veggies were three stalks of completely bland asparagus. The berry compote was (seemingly) just microwaved frozen berries. Not at all worth the staggering $34. My wife got the ribeye. It was completely normal. Not great. Not awful. Not seasoned. Pretty unmemorable. And, keeping with the theme, not at all worth the $33. The bread was great though. Overall I'd recommend going elsewhere. Not a great meal for the $100 price tag when all was said and done.

This place looked great online. We read reviews looked at the menu. The food looked great and reviews were good. we booked a month in advance for my birthday. I have had severe health issues, including cancer and major surgery, since 2020. Surgery last month. So this was going to be a big deal being able to travel so far. We live in Longmont. With my health issues, it is difficult to make such a long drive. My husband and I get up to Estes Park about once every five years. Two days before our trip, we got a text saying we could not have the 2 o’clock seating that we booked. We would have to change to 4:00 4:00 PM is when we will be checking into our room at the Stanley. We booked to have drinks and dessert at the Stanley at 4:30 PM We texted back about this, Hoping the Rose could somehow fit us in at 2:00 as we had booked or maybe even 2:45. But they texted back that we would either have to come at 4:00 PM or Cancel. Had to cancel. Extremely disappointed. There is no place in Estes even remotely like the wild Rose. Were excited to be able to get up into the beautiful mountains after four years of sickness, surgeries, and my husband’s heart attack.

Wanted to celebrate my birthday and both our recoveries.

Their text said book for another day and they would give us dessert and drinks free.

But it is a long and grueling drive up the mountains for us at our age And with our various health problems. We will probably not get back up to Estes for another five years. They didn’t even explain why we would have to book for 4 o’clock Just said it was 4 o’clock or cancel. Truly truly disappointed in this place we would have easily spent over...

Update: Since the restaurant is choosing to invalidate our experience I can provide more details. That's great that our food was ready in 17 minutes but regardless it didn't come out for 45 min and regardless this issues wasn't about The appetizers it was about the fact that we waited for 8 drinks for 45 min. When we ordered drinks I had sent a picture to my brother who asked to see our hike. When the drinks were at our table it was exactly 45 min later with the appetizers not coming till after that. At one point the bus person even told the waitress that we were wondering where our drinks were and she looked at our table and walked to another table to take an order. Regardless of being short staffed it should have been communicated with us at some point in the 45 min.

Original: Since the pandemic I have tried to be very forgiving of restaurants however this weekend in Estes park this was the worst service I have ever experienced. It took 45 minutes to get drinks when the restaurant wasn't even half full. when we expressed our frustrations the manager was very rude and tried to make an excuse that the bartender got too many orders at once but when I went to the bathroom the bartender was texting and standing their doing nothing. In the 45 min we waited the last waitress didn't come up one time to give an update until we literally chased her down. When we asked for the check after the manager was rude it took another 15...

I never write reviews but this place warrants it.

The food was bad. It wasn't atrocious, but it was bad. The burger was on the low side of mediocre. The fries were pretty good, but there was a random piece of calamari also nestled among them. Ordered some apple pie for dessert and it was undercooked (crust was still just dough) and served cold like it just came out of the fridge.

Service was atrocious. We were told we could sit at the bar and that a table would rb available for us in about 10 minutes. Fast forward about 30 minutes (with multiple other, larger parties coming in and getting a table after we showed up) and we finally flag down a hostess. She tells us we won't be getting a table and that we can order at the bar.

OK. Fine. Until the bartender ignores you and disappears for 20 minutes at a time. Once we finally ordered, the food took forever to come out. Then, as previously mentioned, it was bad.

Do not come here.

Edit: since this review is overwhelmingly negative, I will say that at least the drinks were delicious.

Edit after the owner replied: I understand being understaffed. I wouldn't have reviewed if this was not an astoundingly bad experience with regards to both food service and quality. We were understanding at the time since the restaurant was clearly understaffed, but they went above and beyond to deliver the worst possible food...
