I am not certain but believe this store changed ownership since I visited before (over 10 yrs back). As I anticipated this visit, I was excited to return and entering the shop I was happy to see active glass work being done. The craftsman was conversant and pleasant answering questions and sharing details. As I was watching, I could see that the glass piece being worked on was crooked. I figured that the distraction of customers and being friendly might have been challenging to the workmanship. As I browsed through the shop I noticed that the fluted edges of bowls were very irregular... which at first I chalked up to the looser more contemporary style of the time but it was distracting to my eye. Wine/champagne glasses that appeared to be pairs were not equal in size or shape... again I chalked it up to things not being so "matchy" in this time period AND handcrafting lends to things not being exactly identical. The ornaments, jewelry items and lawn decor items that are not expected to be matching are lovely and some are very unique. Mind you, I do handcrafting... and I know exact duplication is very difficult. I also know that some folks cannot see when things are straight nor when things don't match. This is a challenge for craftsmen and for me as a shopper of handcrafted goods. I was looking for a gift for a very special person... and I walked out empty handed. I was disappointed. Located in a resort locale this shop has merchandise that will be purchased and remembered for the trip to Estes Park and the Rockies. The prices are appropriate for handcrafted glass... As a local now, I will return to see what is being done and I will report again in a year or so. I look forward to seeing what is the same...
Read moreJerry's a really chill, low-key, and amazing artist. I have two of his blown glass pieces and three of his protogés. They're all beautiful. It's SO cool and special to watch a true artist make a custom piece especially for you right before your eyes. My husband surprised me with one of his signature pieces for Christmas and I practically cried. If you're just looking for something inexpensive and mass produced you should probably go elsewhere, but if you want to support a true, talented artist who takes pride in his work and take home your own, custom or comissioned piece of art glass by one of the top glass blowers in the country, definitely check out...
Read moreReally a lovely place to stop by when you are in town. They showcase their work to the public so you can see them do their work, and have a huge variety of pieces you can browse while in the store. From hummingbirds to pitchers, peppers to pumpkins. Great to browse like a mini museum, warm even on cold days.
Sarah, one of the staff there was very pleasant to talk to and let us chat about different pieces and we hope to have a piece made here soon.
Just a lovely, cozy spot with dedicated artists and there are always fun things to see. Great...
