I was reading over all of the negative reviews that people left about this experience. I guess the reviews are accurate. The train does stop and eat while the train is apart. The food isn't five star restaurant quality. However, I feel that for about $50 a person, a train ride and meal with four courses is a really great value! I thought the countryside scenery was really pretty and the servers were all super friendly and the baked Alaska dessert looks like a train with real smoke and a headlight. It's true that the wine selection isn't great. But I mean you're on a train. I guess I wasn't expecting the food to be amazing at the price point that you're paying for both a meal and a train ride. I ordered the rainbow trout almondine and I thought it was really delicious. Again, this isn't a five-star restaurant quality meal, but I thought the experience was really fun and special and unusual. I would say the food was about the quality level I was expecting. Anytime you order off a limited menu for a large group of people, the food is similar to the quality of food you would expect to get from a buffet. I thought they did a pretty good job making the food tasty when they were cooking for such a large group of people on a train. I'm not sure how you could do it much better job. I would love to come back again and I think kids would just love and experience on this train! If they allow children, I would love to bring my niece and nephews sometime in the future. I saw some people complaining that the train didn't leave right on time and that their ride lasted longer than advertised, but I'm not sure why the train ride should be in a rush. I would want the train ride to feel leisurely and to relax and take my time. I saw some people complain that the experience is out of date. I guess I thought that that was the whole point? Trains rides are very old-fashioned. I thought that was part of the charm of the experience? If you want to drive somewhere fast, probably just drive your car somewhere like you do every other day of your life.... I thought this train ride was a charming, interesting, quaint and memorable experience and I hope to come back again. I honestly don't know how they turn a profit serving a four-course meal and providing a train ride all at $50 a person. I noticed some people complain that they didn't like the view because the train goes through someone's backyard and you just see the woods and a creek. I'm not sure what else you would be expecting to see on a train ride? The train isn't going to magically teleport you to Narnia or the Swiss Alps. I mean we're in Arkansas, I'm not sure what else you would be expecting to see other than woods and the creek. Train tracks I think normally do go through people's backyards anywhere in the United States. I can understand being disappointed that the train is stopped for quite a while while you're eating. I did picture the train moving during the entire meal. I guess that isn't really clearly laid out in the description of the train ride. I didn't mind that the train was stopped though because that little easier since the train wasn't bumping around while you try to eat your soup.

A very cute concept. It can be a little boring though. You really only travel about a mile down track, stop, and return after dinner and dessert are served. So if you think the sway if the train and constantly changing scenery will help the conversation flow, you may have to rely on good old face to face nothing else to do conversation 😁 and the cellular reception out there was spotty for me. A great experience for everyone to try once. It was romantic to watch the couples. Inside the train is just beautiful and what you might expect a train from 80 years ago to look. A fun experience. The property is private however with many old trains on display it makes for some very beautiful photos. The owner was very nice and friendly and took time to have a conversation with everyone on board. I personally did not care for most of the food served, although some was good. However, I believe I was in the minority as I looked around and most others had cleared their plates. The servers and staff were very polite and friendly and also took some time listening to and conversing with their tables. My son was 12 and enjoyed it. He was a little bored at times but enjoyed the amount of food served.

They were sold out of the lunch excursion so we just purchased the train ride. There was alot of gorgeous nature views and they narrated the ride with interesting information BUT our excursion and the lunch excursion were on the same train so at a point the train stopped and we sat in our car for awhile and were given some more info while the people in the lunch car (which apparently was air conditioned) ate their lunch. After a little bit we were told we could get off the train. Most of our group exited and we were allowed to put coins on the track and the train backed over them so we got flattened coins. We then had to stand outside in 90 something degree heat while the dining car ate their dessert for approximately 20 minutes then we re-boarded and went back to the station. It wasnt horrible but also not pleasant. If you are considering it i would recommend the lunch or dinner excursion so you dont have to stand outside while other people eat. Also boarding time was later than specified so you will stand in the hot sun for awhile

Train enthusiast will enjoy this feature of Eureka springs. We did the excursion which was a short and sweet ride in a historical passenger car. In August, a bit warm despite the fans, but I didn't care because trains are awesome. History is told by your train conductor and the view is of mostly of Arkansas nature, which is of the streams and trees. Then they let us smash coins on the rails, which is something safe to do in this environment. It's wicked dangerous on a live commercial rail and I'm pretty sure illegal. There are decommissioned trains and carts to check out afterwards and a nice gift shop with cats lounging about. We recommend supporting this light bit if history. It's a nice thing to do for an hour or so. It's about the history and experience. If you're looking for a big show or something in that vein, this may not be for you. I say it's worth the low price if you're into nature, trains, and history. I know I've spent 15 to 25 dollars on far more foolish and wasteful ventures.

My husband and I had never been on a train, so we decided to have lunch on the train in Eureka Springs. Love that we could preorder our tickets and meals online the night before. The atmosphere was very enjoyable, the train station had some some old train things to see. The rail yard has some very old trains and cool things to walk around and see. Loved hearing about the history of the train we were going to ride on and the Ozark spring that runs through there. The train car was beautiful, loved that they kept it in its original design from the 1920's. Our server was wonderful and the food was great. Am only giving 4 stars as we thought our train ride was going to be a small loop for ~30 minutes, but we went mostly straight and stopped where we could see the small bridge, sat for about 15 minutes, and then went in reverse back to the train station. There could've been some repairs or something going on that we were unaware of, but all in all we still very much enjoyed our experience.

We took the dinner train last week and wow. We enjoyed it. Yes they take you out to a bridge and no it isn’t that far out, but the whole immersive experience was amazing. I took my girlfriend out and we just loved it. The food … the prime rib, and Eurekan chicken was amazing. Flavor was spot on. The soup and dessert was great. The service was fantastic. Our server Toni and the other one… I failed at recalling her name was super nice and fantastic. Toni was super on point and helpful. We did leave late which since it was miserably hot the cool air on the train car was totally welcomed. I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Maybe when it gets cooler we will return to do the excursion run. Thank you for showing us a great time. Well worth the price. I wish I had brought my camera with us, but I put the phone in the window and did a long video of our return. We did see a deer and loved the older train cars near the station.
