Have actually been going here for several years, Intermittently, but the experience has always been fun. I enjoy making things from scratch and sometimes I need a rare fossil or polished cabuchon or a unusual mineral deposit to complete the project. This place has all of those things in spades, Gigantic collection of rare Earth materials, gemstones, jewelry, beads, tools, you name it. I am making a mirror for a friend, these folks able to find me a nice variety of Amethyst, carnelian, rose quartz and rainbow moonstone For me to install upon the frame. This place can be a little expensive, but they have the goods if you have an idea of which are looking for and the money to spend. Probably one of the few places you are going to see dinosaur and Saber toothed tiger fossils outside of the field museum. Great place!

I absolutely love this place. Coming here is always an event because I end up looking around for at least an hour. The free museum in the basement is a densely packed collection of top quality fossils. The store upstairs has a massive quantity of unique, fine quality jewelry. It ranges from affordable to astronomical. The real gem for me are the fossils and mineral samples. I can always find something special to add to my collection. This time I was able to pick up a surprisingly affordable fossil whale vertebrae and a beautifully prepared sheet of ammonites suitable for wall hanging.

Great store for jewelry that doesn't look like you bought it at the mall. Fossils. Crystals. Amber. Strings of semi-precious stones which you can buy as is, or have made into necklaces. My wife bought a silver and turquoise ring for $65, made by a Native American craftswoman. A fossil museum in the basement will entertain children while you shop. There are meter parking lots on this block of Main Street and nearby.

While Dave's rock shop has a lot of beautiful oddities and gifts from the Earth, and is situated in such an area that they can exploit these wares for a much higher pricetags that is not my complaint. Asking such prices is understandable when you have the market, but it's when customer service does not match where it affects my desire to shop and supoort such a business.

My fiance purchased an amber necklace from there about 8 years ago. I loved it and wore it periodically. One day, I noticed that the main amber fell out of the piece. There was some concern when initially buying and reviewing this piece because of the setting which I thought, at some point, would not be secure as the stone rested on the setting and was not encased. The piece and work we were assured would hold up. A few years went by and then the amber fell out. I had moved states for a bit and could not bring it in until my fiance was able to get there a few months ago.

There were no replacements offered. No guarantee. No upholding their word and work. My fiance really wanted me to have my necklace fixed and back and suggested putting another amber pendant on it, mind you, the original was not a pendant but a forged metal piece with spots for 4 smalls amber stones and a latger center. Well, they agreed this could be a possible work around. They made him pay for the piece, the work, no discount and in the end, the piece now just looks like a piece that was cut, not even pokished well, and a charm added on. For this kind of price and fuss, I would absolutely anticipate a much more adequate resolve. To me it appears, they no longer care about their customers because there are so many more that our money simply doesn't matter, and certainly not the meaning behind the piece.

I have been wearing it as is and love it because of what it means to me. It doesn't look horrible but it definitely no longer looks like a piece of fine crafted jewelry. Very poor work around. I will no longer support this shop. They need to take better care of their customer's happiness and actually stand behind...

The customer service was awful I literally left out feeling depressed because I was so excited to find beads an stone's of every sort. It was a older blonde woman with a cute bob cut that made me fill like glass , I was picking stones she never offered me any service a white woman came beside me an she offered her a tray an pin engaged in convo an I was just waiting for the same treatment but it never happened. I picked all my jewels out to make me some nice jewelry I wouldn't be able to afford if I didn't make it myself, went to the be checked out waited an a nice guy came to my service . He wanted me to price the jewels I wanted him to come with since he gave me a trey an pin but he was busy. I wasn't upset with him I was sad because if I was offered the tray an pin I wouldn't had to go get the prices . It hurt me to leave those jewels but I was disgusted an felt like I was invisible an they didn't want me there so I left an I felt bad because the man felt like he did something wrong an he didn't . I don't think I'm ever going back an that sucks for me but it don't fill good being...

So blessed to have such an excellent gem and mineral shop in our community! They always have high quality items and they have information about the origin of their products readily available. The prices are really reasonable as well. Since crystals have become more popular, many places have started charging exorbitant prices, but Dave's hasn't followed this trend. This keeps rock collecting accessible for everyone, which I totally respect. The staff is really nice and helpful. They take the time to package your items nicely and will include information cards if you request it. They also have an excellent free fossil museum in the basement. You can easily spend a couple of hours here and I frequently do. I can't say enough good things about Dave's. If you love crystals, fossils and gemstones, you really need to visit Dave's...
