A MUST. This place is so amazingly not Midwest tristate food and it’s refreshing. Everything my fiance and I had was phenomenal. We honestly are upset we didn’t take pics but the food was so good we just devoured it while our eyes rolled back from how much flavor every single bite had! The menu is very different. They have a three course meal serving that runs about $68 per person but YOU GET SOOO MUCH FOOD!!! We left so happily stuffed and should’ve taken food home as you could make to whole meals. They have about three options for the first course and at the moment I highly recommend the braised short rib gnocchi. Seriously I could’ve enjoyed a whole meal of that. My Fiance got the shrimp and crawfish risotto which was so good but he was mad I only shared three bites of the gnocchi as it was THAT good. For the second course they give your stomach a break with a soup or salad option. While the salads sounded interesting and some people might really enjoy the flavor pairings, we opted for the French onion soup. I have been to French restaurants in Southern California as well as Charleston South Carolina prided as “the best” and the French onion soup we just had here is the best and most authentic I have ever had. The onions were so well rendered down and caramelized that they fell apart as soon as you put in your mouth. People who don’t like onions would like this soup. Then for the main or the third course. It’s a full meal that portion sizes are what you get at other not cheap restaurant for almost whatever paid for all three courses. He ordered the filet which was very good. I opted to try their rosemary and garlic lamb leg with heirloom roasted carrots. I didn’t want to share. My Fiance said the mashed potatoes were better than he gets at a very high priced known name steak restarting locally. (We don’t wanna name). I would also add that my lamb dish was the best lamb. There aren’t many places that even cook lamb. There’s like only one other local place that does lamb chops and they are very good. But the lamb dish I just had… was perfect! Again I don’t wanna name other local places but I let our server know so she could compliment the chef since we are big foodies. The chef is new to the area and is bringing a much needed extra amount of skill and culture to the area. You can taste the passion in every single bite. My Fiance doesn’t touch vegetables like a toddler almost but he even ate some of every vegetable. We are very happy and filled and impressed. While some people might initially be thrown by the cost of three courses being set, you have so many options and the food portions are huge! You could make two or three meals from on persons order. The server was also so helpful and sweet and chatted with us to explain all our culinary questions. We loved all of it. They are newer and they are a small staff so people need to understand the slower pace of a three course meal and be patient accordingly. Worth the money. The menu changes from what I understand to accommodate what the can source and maintain quality. It’s a Must try. We WILL be back again for sure and next time take photos...
Read moreFood was very good. But there are some disappointing factors considering the $70/plate: they only provide a small slice of bread for the escargot. Why can’t they provide more bread? Lots of rich sauce that you are unable to enjoy as there isn’t more than a tiny piece of bread. The quail was well seasoned and cooked properly. Onion soup was excellent—rich soup with complex flavors. The duck breast was good, but the accompanying vegetables did not match the description in the menu.
Service was ok. Not bad. Not great. For the prices charged, I would like for the staff to explain the dishes and drink menu—rather than just ask if we are ready to order. Normally I wouldn’t take an issue with the service if this was a more “budget” price restaurant. But for $250 for a two person dinner, the service/experience needs to improve. I also found it odd that they had tea candle lights on the tables without any sort of holder/globe. Seems cheap...
