This is NOT your regular theatre where seats recline and anyone can choose heated or cooled seats. No, this is not that. This is a beautiful and old fashioned theatre. The seats are made of cloth material and do not recline back, but they are comfortable. We like bringing our children here. It was first opened in the 1940s. The staff working here have worked hard to keep it original to it's time. They have two theater rooms, downstairs and upstairs. The downstairs theatre is bigger, it can seat over 190 people. The theatre is kept clean. The concession stand is up front on entering the theatre. I love how they sometimes show older movies as their main feature for the weekend or week. Polar Express is our Christmas favorite! The staff does a great job of bringing it back around Christmas time. My children have experienced this movie in the theatre, thanks to Civic theatre.

I love taking my kids to the Farmington Civic Theater. The staff are nice, the popcorn and snacks are cheap, and it’s never jammed full of people. If you prefer the comforts of a reclining chair, booze at a theater, and a lazy good for nothing staff….this place isn’t for you. I’m not sure why I’m telling everyone about this secret gem of a place….you know what, forget everything I wrote above.

This small two screen theater is adorable as long as you know what you're getting yourself into. The retro style theater with the bright lights and ticket window are classic. I hope you keep this time capsule around for awhile. The prices are reasonable and fitting since the theater seats are not recliners.

This is definitely a hidden Gem in city of Farmington. It's an old fashioned theater very well redone. It's only $5 to get in and very well worth it. The staff is very professional the theater is always very clean it is just a very nice little theater. For goodness sakes they are so nice if you go to the counter and tell them that you can adjust a lot of salt the staff will pop popcorn without fault for you and put a cytus II bag if you think you might want to refill the how nice is that? Perfect little theater for date night or for viewing a movie alone it is also kid friendly. And walking distance from various restaurants candy shops and bakeries, and across the street from shopping :-) what else could...

:) I came to the civic theater to see Frozen after the two theaters near Ann Arbor stopped showing the movie, and I have to say, I was impressed! This old classic theater has a very home-like feel to it. Tickets (classic ticket stubs) are cheap - only $4 (cash only). Employees are extremely nice (and have fantastic smiles). I haven't tried the popcorn, however. They have awesome light-up movie posters and the theater itself is fairly-sized and clean. The seats are comfy and the screen is pretty big (half the size of the biggest commercial theater screen = about the same as most theater screens). Quality is pretty decent and the sound is great. Well worth the forty...
