Origin Tattoo — Attraction in Folsom

My artist, Anna, was first and foremost very skilled and did an excellent job with my tattoo. It was (unfortunately for her) a boring text tattoo, but it was still done extremely well and with genuine care. I was there longer than I expected and that is NOT a complaint. She took her time, made sure it was done right, and it was exactly what I wanted. She even saved me from getting it in a place that would warp the text not too far in the future. All attributes from an artist you want when it will be a permanent part of you. Anna was a fantastic artist and I'd highly recommend her for any of you looking for fine line work.

The establishment itself was relaxed and unique. If you mixed a "standard" tattoo shop, art studio, and health spa, you'd get pretty close to the vibe of Origin. Eclectic artwork all around, some plants and a large window overlooking a nice green space, and the sound of tattoo work, it's an interesting blend that will definitely make first timers feel comfortable.

I had the pleasure of getting this incredible Crimson Rose tattoo done by Nicholas Black, and I couldn't be happier with the experience or the results. The detail, depth, and color work he achieved blew me away—it’s truly a stunning piece that I can't stop staring at. He completed this piece, including hand-drawing it on first, in just under 3 hours.

The shop itself is beautiful and immaculately clean, which instantly made me feel comfortable. There are about 6 artists in total who work from Origin, and they are all very talented and welcoming. Nick is clearly in high demand, so while he may take a bit to respond to inquiries, it's 100% worth the wait. I was lucky enough to get this piece thanks to a last-minute opening he advertised on Instagram. I also have two appointments in 3 weeks to start my full sleeve on my other arm.
