Initial impression was great! The person who heckled us in basically let us pick where we wanted to stay (away from the elevator but not the end of the hallway, and not facing the parking lot). She even let us check in early due to arriving from the airport early.
But the next days were a different story. I was there for a conference and the wifi for the conference was shoddy at best. The fruit that was offered prior to the conference starting was not ripe (I get some fruit is not in season, but then don't serve it!) and the pastries were nonexistent when I arrived, still 20 minutes before the start of the conference. Lunch was better, but the rice was not cooked all the way and many (more than half) of the pieces were still crunchy.
But what was the worst was the horrible smell on the floor (2nd) once we got off the elevator after the conference. Smelled like a bunch of wet, stinky dogs had rolled around the carpeting in the hallways several weeks ago and the smell was never removed. The kicker is, we never smelled this offensive odor when we checked in, or prior to the start of the conference.
The conference ran until 12p on Sunday, but check out is at 11A. When I asked about a later check-out, they said the latest they would accept would be 12p before an additional charge ($39 plus applicable taxes up until 2p, and then after 2p would be another full day's charge). No care that the conference didn't end until 12p, or that our flight wasn't until 7p and didn't have a car. I had hoped to be able to get finished with the conference and take a shower immediately afterwards and then check out, but I couldn't even do that.
The room was nice-ish. The windows slide open to allow fresh air in, which is great. The beds are super hard, something my back was not happy about. There is no working fan in the bathroom, the toilet is so loud when they are flushed that you are disturbed by them in the middle of the night by your neighbor next to you and above you, and the light switch for the bathroom is outside and also turns on a light above the minibar area which is just outside the bathroom. So if you're staying with someone who needs to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you'll be awaken by the light above the bar initially and then of the loud toilet flush.
If you're coming to Folsom for an event, this hotel is do-able, but if you're wanting a quality stay, you might consider looking elsewhere for the time being. There were signs talking of ADA improvements in the works, so I'm not sure if those improvements are the cause of the smell (though I seriously doubt it) or the shoddy internet during the conference, but I can't say I would openly recommend this hotel to stay for a vacation.
Also, the map they gave us was of Old Folsom, which is within walking distance from the hotel. While these shops were cute in nature, their opening hours vary from 1030A to 11A. It wasn't until our last day, thanks to our Uber driver going back to the air, that we realized there's more to the town than...

Read moreSo where do I begin 1st the location is great especially for out of town guest. The staff was very friendly and bar staff was amazing HOWEVER we used this venue for my daughters wedding and reception and reserved about 15 or more rooms for 100 guest. When I met the coordinator she was pleasant and the lobby area and outside was very nice. We planned the wedding over a year I really didn’t think I needed to check what the rooms looked like but when we checked In I instantly knew these rooms were Motel quality. The doors were all Scratched up and the hall smelled a bit like pet or some sort of Oder but it was to late this was the day before the wedding so we made do. Now wedding day everything was fine but the catering is a BIG NO. The food was cold bland and under cooked. Most of the guest didn’t eat because it was more like senior citizen bland food although we were very detailed in wanting food cooked well done as well as highly seasoned . Also they do not clean rooms and charged me a cleaning fee when we were in the room for 3 days and the bridal party got ready in the rooms with hairstylist and make up artist in the rooms while getting dressed for the big day. Because the bride and bridesmaids were sort of ordered to stay in the room so that the groom would not see her before the ceremony we ordered food trays and appetizers for the room all day long as we had a 5 pm wedding start time line. If they cleaned daily there wouldn’t be excess of items to clean. Also the coordinator is there Wend - Sunday so if you need quick responses to questions this is not the place for you. Our wedding was over at 10pm and some of us headed up to the room because some of us had early flights only to be shocked that downstairs there was another party going on still and it sounded like the dj was in the room with us it was so loud and did not end until 1130 when we were told it would be done at 11. They had no consideration for the hotel quest which was definitely something I feel should be communicated...
