I have visited here a few times and got take out, I think, 2 times. Every time I do, it's a disappointment. I think maybe they've changed, but it's just the same mediocre food. It's too bad because it's a relatively cool location and could be so much more.
The entrance is awkward, and they've put a big table for to go orders that feel out of place.
I had hoped the "esquite" would be even just marginal because my daughter is always asking for it, and there are very few places around. It was basically corn with tons of water and a little clump of queso fresco floating at the top. I thought they made an error because their online menu picture was nothing like this and more typical.
When I called to ask the manager, a man identified himself not by name but "it's me." He kept referring to we, and it was hard to tell if he meant the restaurant, the owners, or some broader Hispanic identification.
It took me 15 minutes of arguing with him to believe I ordered an asada plate and not fajitas. This is a little hilarious because I called to ask about the esquite. Eventually after texting pictures of my food and receipt he finally believed I had indeed ordered an asada plate and not fajitas lololol. This is when I was able to ask him about his corn soup and proceed to tell me that's how they do it in Mexico.
They can say what they want, I don't really care, but update your menu pictures online, and stop arguing when...
Read moreWe have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in our area for awhile, and we were hoping this would be it. But sadly, we ended up being very disappointed. The restaurant was packed, we were seated quickly, which was nice. I believe it was the manager who sat us, a bigger bald guy. But from there it went down hill. We sat for at least 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us. The manager walked past multiple times without making eye contact. When we finally got a waiter, we quickly gave our drink order and food order at the same time. They did bring the table waters and more chips. Less than 15 minutes later our food arrived. No drinks. All the tables around us had their drinks delivered. We asked our waiter to check on them, and he did so. He said they would be right out. 20 minutes later, we are finishing our dinner up and still no drinks. Bald guy keeps walking by and not making eye contact. The food ended up being okay at best. Not sure why it is so hard to find a decent Mexican restaurant around here. Long story short. They brought our drinks out with our bill after we told them we did not want them any longer. I get a busy house takes longer for service, but this place is good at not making eye contact and not keeping patrons happy. Will...
Read moreIf you're looking for some delicious Mexican food in Folsom, you have to try La Calle. I had an amazing experience here - the food is simply delicious. They have an incredible house sauce that has just the right amount of kick to it. It really takes the flavor of the food to the next level.
I had the veg burrito and it was fantastic. It was packed with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of spice. And to wash it all down, I tried a mango margarita - it was the perfect complement to the meal.
But what really sets La Calle apart is the owners. They're incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can tell that they truly care about their customers. The location and ambiance are amazing too - they had a nice mariachi song playing in the background, which really added to the overall experience.
I loved my visit to La Calle and I can't wait to go back. If you're in the mood for some amazing Mexican food, you really have to try this place. Whether you're in the mood for a burrito, tacos, or anything else on the menu, you're sure to be delighted. So please, show your support for this amazing restaurant - you won't be...
